SHOWING TEN BACKLIST BOOKS SOME LOVE

by

Showing some older titles love is always something I love to do. I however do feel like doing this often ties to those books I best love or the books I attach nostalgia too. This is something I’ve written lists on before so in an effort to feature some other books too (and looking at my list, I think I failed), I’m going to look at backlist books to love that I haven’t read, and some backlist books to love that I have.

I’m sure there’s some I never feature that would fit, but here we are. Not featuring them and instead likely repeating some. Let’s just dive in and share the things.

BACKLIST BOOKS I STILL HAVEN’T READ

THE SHE-HULK DIARIES, MARIA ACOSTA

I’m sure I purchased this in my prime Marvel “addiction” days though the initial prompt of “why” I picked it up, I cannot remember. Either way, it’s been on my shelf for a long time. Do I read it or let it go? Goodreads

PRICED TO MOVE, GINNY AIKEN

Had these for years. Pretty sure I bought them because of the “heist” type story. Now the question is, are they still worth a read? Goodreads

ALLY CARTER BOOKS

I own several of her novels, and while I’m way past her target reader age (at last those I own), I always envisioned them as being light and easy reading and sometimes that’s what I need. So again the question, do I keep and read them? Goodreads

THE STATISTICAL PROBABILITY OF LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT, JENNIFER E. SMITH

Had this one on my shelf for FAR too long. Now with the upcoming film adaptation, it’s high time to finally read this one. Goodreads

CONTROLLING INTEREST and TOUR DE FORCE, ELIZABETH WHITE

I’ve read a couple of novels by this author, but not these. I do think I’m still interested in reading these since I remember enjoying what I read by the author who now writes as Beth White, and published historical fiction. ‘Controlling’ Goodreads •‘Tour’ Goodreads

BACKLIST BOOKS I’VE READ and ENJOYED

VELVET UNDERCOVER, TERRI BROWN

Cannot remember all the details but I did enjoy this one. Goodreads

THE LADY OF BOLTON HILL, ELIZABETH CAMDEN

One of the first novels I read by Elizabeth. I probably have ones I enjoy more as far as the story goes, but I did adore this one so much at the time I read it. This may have actually even been Camden’s debut. Goodreads

DEAR AMERICA (SERIES)

I saw a whole stack of these on my shelf while looking for books to put on this list, and gosh, they are some of those early day reads I cannot remember, but now I did, at one time, love. Sometimes I think it’d be interesting to go back and re-read some of my early favorites to see if my opinions with time and growing up have changed. Goodreads

ROSES FOR MAMA, JANETTE OKE

This one is throwing it way back. I read so many novels by Janette Oke back in the day and even got some from a church library unhaul type event. They were some of my favorite young girl reads. While now I’m sure I’d be “critical” of them, they were part of my early love of reading so I haven’t parted with them. Goodreads

THE PROPOSAL, LORI WICK

Another forgotten oldie. These were some of my very favorites. Goodreads

    1. I’m hoping to enjoy that one as a “cute” read, especially since they’ve adapted it into a film and I want to read the book first! Hoping it’s fun. :) Thanks for visiting, Tanya.

    1. The Hunger Games was SO popular back in the day! Maybe it’s kind of found popularity again too with the new prequel book. And yay for more Janette Oke and Lori Wick readers. It’s been years but I used to love their books. Often wonder what I’d think if I read them today. :) Thanks for visiting here!

    1. Ally Carter’s books always sound fun! I think I did read one or two of her Embassy Row novels and I did order her new book which is adult fiction I think so I’m hoping it’ll be a fun read. :) Thanks for visiting, as always, Jo!

  1. I read The Proposal back before I was writing reviews. I gave it three stars, but I have no idea what I thought of it, LOL. Nice list. I was thinking as I was doing this post (and dusting my bookshelves yesterday), that I really need to get rid of some backlist books that don’t interest me. Make room for more of what does, or just have less to dust, LOL!

    1. I often wonder if I’d enjoy now the books I loved back in this era of reading. I go back and forth between re-reading some and leaving them be because that “preserves” my enjoyment of the book. It’s a bookworm dilemma. ;) I sort my bookshelves once a year or I used to post the INSPYs program. I haven’t now for a bit because my office is too full of boxes/books that I either have listed on eBay or will donate. Good news is I was able to drop off a few boxes to the library this past weekend so it was nice to lessen my book count! :)

        1. That’s awesome!! I used to share some books with an aunt and grandmother, but a lot of times they’d return them unless I specifically told them I didn’t want the book back. I don’t think I have any avid readers in my life right now, so I don’t even have people to share them with! But hopefully I’ll meet some. :)

          1. That sounds fun! I know some people have those little library and they really love them! I live in a rural area though so I don’t know if it’d be successful her or not. Hope you get one set up again. :)

    1. I’m SO glad to hear this, Susan! I often wonder if I should re-read some of my older favorites and if I’d still enjoy them so knowing you like Dear America is fun because those were BIG favorites of mine. :)

    1. Right? I feel this way about so much of culture/media. They just don’t write books or produce TV/films like they used too. I miss when both were there to entertain us.
