In the past week, Netflix released promotional videos for most of its upcoming Christmas movie slate of 2024. There are trailers for Christina Milian’s Meet Me Next Christmas; Lacey Chabert’s Hot Frosty; and Chad Michael Murray’s much anticipated “stripping” comedy The Merry Gentlemen. Lindsay Lohan’s Our Little Secret trailer dopped today as well!
A couple of weeks ago, news broke about casting in the upcoming adaptation of The Housemaid. If you read the book, you may love to see that a version will be adapted. The film is set to star Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney, with Sweeney taking the titular role of Millie.
According to Goodreads, the plot follows Millie, a woman who comes to work for the Winchester’s. The text from Goodreads reads, in part:
Every day I clean the Winchesters’ beautiful house top to bottom. I collect their daughter from school. And I cook a delicious meal for the whole family before heading up to eat alone in my tiny room on the top floor.
I try to ignore how Nina makes a mess just to watch me clean it up. How she tells strange lies about her own daughter. And how her husband Andrew seems more broken every day. But as I look into Andrew’s handsome brown eyes, so full of pain, it’s hard not to imagine what it would be like to live Nina’s life. The walk-in closet, the fancy car, the perfect husband.
I only try on one of Nina’s pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it’s like. But she soon finds out… and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it’s far too late. – Goodreads
Hallmark is the subject of a lawsuit by a former casting employee who alleges Hallmark execs claim stars like Lacey Chabert and Holly Robinson Peete are “old” and need to be aged out of being leading ladies. The network denies these claims.
New season renewals were handed out to do different dramas. One is for Virgin River which got a season seven renewal from Netflix ahead of its winter season six drop. (What do we think of the simple and pretty season six teaser poster?) Then, a few episodes after its debut, CBS hands a second season renewal to Matlock. This makes the show (if I’m not mistaken) the first from the fall 2024 schedule to earn a renewal.
