‘TRADING UP CHRISTMAS’: A COLORFUL AND SWEET HALLMARK MOVIE
With one of my favorite Hallmark stars, and with colorfully cute promotion, I was curious about this one, but unlike some, I also went into Trading Up Christmas knowing next to nothing about it.
Trading Up Christmas (2024) TV Film Review
Michelle (Italia Ricci) has the best heart and is all about keeping things cheerful. She’s passionate about helping people learn to read, and her Christmas project. When her sister (Meredith Forlenza) has to move (again) with her young daughter, Michelle takes Internet inspiration and determines she’s going to get her sister a new home… all by Christmas.
She plans to trade up for a house, starting with trading a family heirloom stocking. When a reporter is assigned her story, Michelle gets Dan (Michael Xavier) as a tagalong on her journey to trade for that perfect house.

Trading Up Christmas is cute and has some fun moments. It’s also only the second one I’ve watched under the Hallmark Mystery line. I also love that I went into this blind. It makes the discovery or journey of the story this much better. The cast is rather good, too. I like Italia Ricci and have since seeing her in her first Hallmark film. I don’t think I’ve seen Michael in as much, but he too is good (the way he plays the character proves he is one of the favorite Christmas movie leading men), and I like the cute adventure these two go on.
The film also has more heart and emotional backing which will be something many viewers will enjoy. While not a new concept (at this point, finding that is really difficult), but there is so much sweetness and heart in this script, so we forgive it any flaws. There is some of the usual third act drama, but fortunately it also has more to the reason for the withdraw, so
Stream Trading Up Christmas, at publication, on Hallmark+ or Peacock.
Content: there isn’t anything to note in this TV-G film. There’s the usual kisses, and comments about people being cute or attractive.
