‘GET HIM BACK FOR CHRISTMAS’: MORE OLD SCHOOL ROM-COM THAN NOSTALGIA
Part of the group of 2024 Christmas movies that made its debut, Get Him Back for Christmas has a couple of unique things going for it.
Get Him Back for Christmas (2024) TV Film Review
Life is successful and trending towards happy for Bella Harlan (Alexa PenaVega). Her collaboration with Sage Majors (Alan Powell), a successful pop star, has catapulted her into the limelight as has her budding romance with him. Then, Sage decides things are too serious and he wants to put a halt to “them” right now. Believing they are merely on a break and will resume their love story come the new year, she returns to her hometown for the holiday season.
Once there, she again meets with her former crush, Jack Grayton (Carlos PenaVega), a man struggling with his past and what this means for his present. As they work together writing a new song for Bella, the pair rediscover friendship and perhaps a spark neither expects.

‘GET HIM BACK FOR CHRISTMAS’: MORE OLD SCHOOL ROM-COM THAN NOSTALGIA. #AlexaPenaVega stars in this #ChristmasMovie rom-com! #GAF #GreatAmericanFamily Share on XLike almost any movie you’d find debuting this time of year on any one of the various TV networks, Get Him Back for Christmas is cute and fun and cheerful. It also has themes of family without coming across as having too much nostalgia. What makes this title unique isn’t that it’s a plot we haven’t seen before, but rather that its main stars are married in real life. This is a theme Christmas movies have had in a few cases over recent years, and it’s been kind of fun when you learn that bit of movie trivia.
From Great American Family, this is the only title from them I’ve seen. Whether it will remain so or not I cannot say since I’m sure I’ll watch one or two additional titles yet. What I will say is, this one is a solid title. It still has the usual festive cheer and moments of nostalgia, but it actually has more of a kind of rom-com feeling rather than being anything else. There’s also plenty of music which its stars provided for the movie. They also produce the film, and the director (Brian Herzlinger) is no stranger to the TV film genre.
In the end, Get Him Back for Christmas is a lovely little film.
