POP CULTURE NEWS 180: ANTICIPATED TV SHOWS + SURPRISE CANCELLATIONS
Hey there! It’s Friday and the tradition here is to round up some of the “silly” stories that make cultural or better described pop culture stories we find that fit into the type of content or things we often feature. This ranges from Hallmark to TV news. pop culture news 180
Let’s see what we find this week.
POP CULTURE NEWS 180
If you are loving (or if you binge watched it all), then you may be happy to have seen that Netflix is giving their workplace comedy Running Point a second season. The announcement was made on social media with lead star Kate Hudson sharing the excitement! I haven’t binge watched it all (yet), but what I’ve seen (I think I made it to episode five or so, about halfway) has been fun (albeit one of the more adult comedies I’ve watched). How do you think a second season will play? (Even not watching the end yet, I don’t see this show having a long life… but time will tell.)
✨POP CULTURE NEWS 180: ANTICIPATED TV SHOWS + SURPRISE CANCELLATIONS✨ #PrimeVideo teases new show + cancels a favorite. #RunningPoint #KateHudson Share on XOn the heels of this good Netflix news, if you liked the spy dramedy The Recruit, Netflix opted to cancel it. This means its recent season two drop of the Noah Centineo (formerly of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) show will serve as its finale.

Also ending will be Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty. It will return for season three this summer which will double as its final season, too. According to its new promotional art, shared on X, the final season will debut in July. This makes sense considering there are three books in the series. What do you think? Should the show have gone on or do you think keeping with the book length is wise?

If you love Gilmore Girls, you may like to know that finally Amazon MGM Studios will be releasing the new show from creators Amy Sherman-Palladino & Daniel Palladino. The show, titled Étoile, according to the press releases is described as “highly anticipated” and is further described as a “dramedy” features Emmy-Award winner Luke Kirby, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Lou de Laâge. April 24th will mark the global release of all eight episodes to Prime Video. Also from the press, the story says it will be set in both New York and Paris, and follows “the dancers and artistic staff of two world-renowned ballet companies as they embark on an ambitious gambit to save their storied institutions: swapping their most talented stars.” This is the second time Palladino tried a dance show (the first was Bunheads) and I sense this one will be more drama than comedy, but we shall see!
As a final note, the third season finale for The Way Home is tonight. I’ll recap it, so watch for that late tonight. Additionally, the Hallmark favorite will also be back for a fourth year, which the show shared on X.
