15 MORE IDEAL AND LOVELY MOVIES TO WATCH FOR SPRING
Spring is here again and with it, the goal today is to see how many spring-like films we can find to curate a list. In 202o and 2022 we created lists featuring spring movies, but it’s been a while so taking a look at what else fits this mold did seem fun. Hopefully the end result is a list of movies that have the feeling of springtime even if not set in the season.

BIG FISH
I’m never seen this film about a man curious about the life his father lived and his journey to discover more about his unique father. Albert Finney plays the senior Ed Bloom and Ewan McGregor the younger (the film tells stories in flashbacks) and Billy Crudup plays his son, Will. It looks very spring with that iconic yellow tulip promotion, but I have a feeling the film is also bittersweet.

AN EASTER BLOOM

I do try to stay away from adding a lot of Hallmark films on lists like this only because I talk about those in excess in other places or other features. But I’m adding this 2024 title because, for the network, it’s quite different. It follows a woman who meets (and of course falls for) a pastor, which is an unusual profession for a hero.

EAT, PRAY, LOVE
Julia Roberts stars in this adaptation about a woman who goes on a journey after a divorce to “find herself” through her travels in Italy, Bali and India.
Stream, at publication, on Max; or purchase / rent on places like Apple TV+ or Prime Video
FROM JUSTIN to KELLY
A film that takes place during spring break, this one has Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini in a film about a waitress and college student who meet while in Florida.
Purchase / rent on places like Apple TV+ or Prime Video
THE GREATEST HITS
A woman in mourning discovers she can revisit her past and her loss by playing certain songs. The film is bittersweet, yes, but it’s also a really sweet film that teaches her how to heal and start new. I like how it ultimately ends, and I also did really like seeing Lucy Boynton in the role.
Stream, at publication, on Hulu
HOP
An animated flick, I think I saw part of this once. James Marsden stars as a man who meets E.B., the song of the Easter Bunny! Of course, this bunny is far more interested in being a drummer who rocks and rolls.
Stream, at publication, on Peacock; or purchase / rent on places like Apple TV+ or Prime Video
HOPE SPRINGS, 2012
This isn’t one I’ve seen (we’re not surprised, I know), but it has Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones in the lead roles playing a married couple who decide counseling is needed in their 30-year union. And yes, I did add this to my spring movies list because of its title, but also it sounds as though there are some new beginnings about to happen.
Purchase or rent on places like Apple TV+ or Prime Video
IRISH WISH

A Netflix production, Lindsay Lohan stars in this title about a woman who crushes on the fiancé of a friend. When she goes to Ireland for their wedding, thanks to a little Irish luck, she wakes the next day to find her life is exactly what she always wished for….
Stream, at publication on Netflix
ISN’T IT ROMANTIC
Rebel Wilson leads the cast in this about a woman who doesn’t believe in true love or the fantasy of romantic comedies. Only when she wakes up from an accident, she finds she’s living in one and she’s the leading lady. This is another film I haven’t seen, but its promotion is very spring like with all of those florals!
Purchase or rent on places like Apple TV+ or Prime Video
LOVE in BLOOM
This one seems very “cute” and fun and says it follows a florist who visits Australia where she finds new perspective through the beautiful gardens at the inn where she stays, which seems to make this an ideal spring movies watch!
Stream, at publication, on Prime Video or The Dove Channel; or purchase / rent on places like Prime Video
MARIE ANTOINETTE

A film that takes a towards sad (but is historical), Kirsten Dunst stars in this film that has a very spring-y aesthetic. All those pastels and florals make for a beautiful and its written and directed by Sofia Coppola.
Stream, at publication on Pluto TV; or purchase / rent on places like Apple TV+ or Prime Video
MARY POPPINS
This one was hyped a lot as a spring title, and with that cute whimsical park scene, this seems fitting. Julie Andrews stars in this Oscar film about a unique governess who appears when needed and moves on when she’s given the help a family needs.
Stream, at publication on Disney+; or purchase / rent on places like Apple TV+ or Prime Video
REMEMBER SUNDAY

I’m not sure the season of this film, but it’s one I recently rewatched and was reminded how much I love it. It’s about a woman who falls for a man who, every day, cannot remember her. It’s a kind of 50 First Dates concept, but this one is more serious. Alexis Bledel and Zachary Levi star, and it feels like a nice spring time watch given that its heroine is interested in starting a flower business.
Stream, at publication, on Hallmark+ or find on Fubo, Pluto TV, The Roku Channel or Tubi; or purchase / rent on places like Prime Video
UP in CENTRAL PARK

Asking me to remember specifics about this film is too much, but I have seen it. It’s a black-and-white classic with Deanna Durbin a well known singer during her time. The heroine’s name is Rosie and follows her, the daughter of an immigrant, and a newspaper reporter who uncover political corruption. I don’t think the entire “look” of this film is spring like, but there is a whole park sequence that is very appropriately spring-esque.
