Reigniting a franchise (of a sort) that is an audience favorite, The Librarians: The Next Chapter introduces new guardians, but keeps the fun level the same.
The Librarians: The Next Chapter TV Review (2025)
Opening in the 1800s, a lost tomb has been found and with it is Vikram Chamberlain (Callum McGowan), a keeper of ancient and carefully protected artifacts and relics. But despite the man using him to find this treasure, Vikram tells him that he’s not merely a librarian, he’s the librarian. He’s a protector and keeper of these things and it’s his job to ensure baddies don’t find these.
When his mission goes bad, Vikram is rescued by a stranger, a man named Jacob Stone (Christian Kane). The thing is, now that Jacob brings him to the future, there’s bad news; Vikram must remain. Mourning the loss of his love, he finds it hard to stay here, but with Jacob’s help and new team members, including Lysa (Olivia Morris), a brilliant mind and new castle owner… oh, yeah, and she resembles Vikram’s sweetheart. Connor (Bluey Robinson) is a man who is all about paranormal and history, and finds this new role he falls into fascinating. Perhaps this unusual band of heroes will find the answers each seek…

It’s been a long time since I saw any of the Librarian stories, but the ones I did see were fun. Included in TNT’s prior show was Jacob Stone as a Librarian character, so having that cameo with Christian Kane, too, is quite fun. (There is also a sweet little blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shout-out to Lindy Booth’s Cassie, too.) Beyond this, the episode is all about the new team and how they, presumably begin to bond.
The cast is good. I enjoyed seeing the adventure of it all. Also in the mix is the guardian, Charlie, the one who keeps Vikram and the team safe. The show plays up the usual banter and camaraderie which is, of course, always entertaining. Each of these characters I am sure will have a story to tell, but what this will be remains to be seen. So, if you love adventure stories like any of the prior Librarians films or something like Fountain of Youth, consider adding this new show to your must-watch list.

Content: Nothing to really note. There are some scary moments. A creature threatens them. There is lots of magical and some more minor swordplay and other threats. IT’s all on par with prior Librarian stories if you seen them. The show is TV-PG.
