SOME OF THE WAYS BLOGGING STYLES CHANGE
When it comes to life, change is inevitable. Hopefully more often than not, it’s a good change. Like life, any blogger or writer or reviewer will probably tell you that these too will undergo change. Of course, the goal there is always for the change to be positive. My current ask today is to ponder how blogging styles change, specifically as they relate to the content here.

SOME OF THE WAYS BLOGGING STYLES CHANGE. #Blogging #Blogger #Blog #TopTen #TopTenTuesday Share on XSometimes writers change because the industry does (perhaps this most applies to novelists) and sometimes it’s simply because we grow. Either way, let’s look at how my writing or blogging style changes.
HOW BLOGGING STYLE CHANGES
AESTHETIC
The “look” of blogs, and this space in particular has changed a lot through the years. I just saw a food blogger redesign her site and she went through a little walk down memory lane to all the looks she’s had. It’s definitely been a bit of a roller coaster of the trends and looks we all adopted, and I’d guess, knowing me, that x amount of years from now, as any trend does, I’ll find things I’m putting together now horribly dated, too!
DISCUSSIONS
I used to never write discussion posts or those I did were, well, not interesting. I would also get “scared” to share opinions because while opinions are something we can share (and should be able to share in a conversational way), the world isn’t nice often and while disagreeing is good, unkindness is unnecessary. Another struggle is too many words, and while I still have those dreaded word salads often (often in a bad way) in my writing, I have improved.
INFORMATION
I think the kind of information I share in reviews has changed. I used to share things that were pointless or were too close to spoiler heavy or even essentially sharing basically everything about a film (no matter how mundane). This wasn’t true so much about books, but screen reviews, yes, it did happen and I have to confess, it was kind of annoying.

LENGTH
This probably could fit under my “discussions” header. But I’m separating it out because I can. Reviews I once wrote were rambling and silly and just too much. I still need to work on cutting, but I think more often than not I’m winning the length game and I’m grateful.
VARIETY
Once upon a time, book reviews or book style lists were all I shared. I’ve since branched out and I like it. While I know the rule is to stay with one subject, I guess in regards to content, I’m a rebel because writing about a variety of things is what I find more interesting both as a consumer and as a writer of content.

So far it seems like most people seem to agree that writing reviews for every book is unsustainable. I have set my bar really low for myself. I only “have” to write reviews for book club selections. Of course I write more, but that allows me to not write a review for every books, especially low-interest ones.
