GLITTERING GEEKY CHARACTERS WE ALL LOVE
There are some terms that people find annoying. Some of these are terms I never use meaning in a negative way. One such term is “geek.” I never use it as a negative, but rather as a description of a loveable and charming character that often becomes the personalities we relate most to. According to the wacky and bizarre holiday calendar, one such upcoming day celebrates such personalities through “geekiness” day. Or it did since we let that day pass without “on this day” celebrating (a month ago now!). Still, this is what inspires our list all about the geeky characters we all love. Because let’s be real, we all have them.
LIST | EIGHTEEN MOVIES TO KEEP YOUR LOVE OF PARIS STRONG
GLITTERING GEEKY CHARACTERS WE ALL LOVE. Chatting about lovable characters who are self described (or earned) the moniker of "geek" and we love them all the more because of this. #FavoriteCharacters #Characters #CharacterList Share on XSome of these may not be your definition of this type of character or “fitting” of this title, and that’s ok. Our lists are never indicative of every film or character that fits the definition but rather we try to put out a wide group of characters (or films if that’s the list direction) that allows us to see someone we all like. Plus, these types of characters are, quite easily, some of the characters I tend to relate most to. I’m not witty or clever like so many of these characters, but do understand so many of their other attributes.
GEEKY CHARACTERS we all LOVE
CHUCK BARTOWSKI from CHUCK
This is probably one of my all-time favorite characters from TV. I haven’t finished the entire series (I start shows and then I read something about them – which is why I cannot read about shows, that disappoints so I don’t finish), but I do still plan to. Stream, at publication, on Max or Prime
CLIFF CALVIN from CHEERS
Spouting facts upon facts upon facts, we still cannot help but like Cliff, the mailman who doesn’t quite know when to quit, and yet we adore his fact finding (over) sharing. Stream, at publication, on Paramount+
FRAISER and LILITH STERNIN-CRANE from CHEERS
I mean, these two, what can we say about them? Before there was the aptly titled Frasier sitcom, they were in Cheers, and the start of their love story and banter is quite hilarious. Stream, at publication, with Paramount+
CHARLIE EPPES from NUMBERS
I do love the brothers from Numbers but it’s Charlie who has the unique brain though his dad and brother add their only unique perspective to the many cases they solve. Stream, at publication, on Freevee or PlutoTV
LEO FITZ from AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.
I never finished watching the entirety of ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. but I did love Leo as one of the geeky characters, but also, he’s cool and smart. Stream, at publication, on Disney+
JESS from NEW GIRL
Jess popped up a time or time in research so I’m including her. She is adorable and loveable and wonderfully awkward in equal parts. She’s effortlessly cool even if not in the most traditional of ways. Stream, at publication, on Hulu or Peacock
ALEX P. KEATON from FAMILY TIES
Alex is ridiculous in many ways, but in many others, he’s a likable and endearing guy. Plus, the dude is really clever and smart and I quite enjoy the contrast between him and (mainly) his parents as far as their views on the world. It makes for fun TV. Stream, at publication, on Paramount+ or PlutoTV
TOPANGA LAWRENCE from BOY MEETS WORLD
I don’t remember Boy Meets Worlds though I did watch some episodes back in the day. Research tells me Topanga is clever and smart, so we’re including her because of this. Stream, at publication, on Disney+
HARRIET MANNERS from GEEK GIRL
Harriet is a character I originally met in the novels Geek Girl by Holly Smale, and then most recently Netflix adapted the series in a ten-part miniseries that was just… well, all kinds of darling and fun. Harriet is a self-described geek. Stream exclusively on Netflix
TIMOTHY MCGEE from NCIS
I don’t know if I’d have put Tim on this list, but I saw someone else mention him as fitting this type of character, but he IS a techie geek and a fabulous character. I also love his character arc. He’s been through some things and while he has struggled with some things, he’s mostly come out a strong and solid lead who has become a brilliant character. Plus, for a modern TV character, I think he has one of the better story arcs that is authentic. Stream show, at publication, on Paramount+
STEVE URKEL from FAMILY MATTERS
This character is probably who comes first and foremost to the mind of people thinking of geeky characters. I love Steve because he retains his hopeful and cheerful personality and is a person I think we all can learn from. Stream, at publication, on Hulu or Max
ABBY SCIUTO from NCIS
Clever and smart, Abby kept the NCIS team in information through her ability to understand and use technology well. Stream, at publication, with Paramount+
GRACE SHEFFIELD from THE NANNY
Grace is adorable in season one, but sadly, it feels like all of the Shefield kids take a back seat in later seasons of The Nanny. She is a bit neurotic with her fears and need for a therapist, but I also love her character. Stream, at publication, on Peacock
JEMMA SIMMONS from AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.
Though limited to a season (or two, I cannot remember), I did love Jemma. She plays an important role for the team, just like Fitz, even if they aren’t the ones kicking butt “in the field” day in and out. Stream, at publication, on Disney+
FELICITY SMOAK from ARROW
We do love Felicity. From Arrow, she was a character many people fell in love with. She’s whip smart and an asset to the Arrow team even if she does find some of her role annoying at times. Stream, at publication, on Netflix
