‘GRANTCHESTER,’ SEASON 10: ONE OF THE QUAINT MYSTERY SHOWS
Returning to a comfort show is kind of like getting a needed hug. Strange though it may sound to say so about a crime drama, the start of Grantchester season 10 is one that falls into this category.
Grantchester Season 10 (2025) PBS Masterpiece TV Show Review
Settling into Grantchester may not be the simplest thing for Alphy (Rishi Nair), but the vicar is trying to find his footing with this new church. What helps is finding a new friend and equal in Geordie (Robson Green), the local inspector with whom Alphy has taken up the mantle of solving crimes with!
When an apparent suicide clamors for the attention of Alphy and Geordie, this causes some personal feelings to walk into Alphy’s life. It also makes him realize that he needs to confront some issues from his past before any future can be pursued.

In all honesty, it’s been a long time since I made a visit (I believe I watched season seven) to Grantchester. There is no excuse for this because the show, as this tenth season premiere proves, continues to be wonderful and charming. Through the years, most of the faces stay the same which is what makes this so familiar. However, with familiar there still needs some change which the show accomplished by introducing a new vicar every few years. Sydney Chambers started it all and now we get to watch Rishi Nair’s Alphy step into those shoes. This tenth season premiere also doubles as my meeting of his character though I have no doubt I’ll enjoy getting to know him better. Like I said, everyone else pretty much stays the same and this is part of why it has loyal fans and is hopefully a testament to the show that it can keep the same actors year after year.

The rest of the cast returning includes Tessa Peake-Jones, Al Weaver, Kacey Ainsworth and many more who perhaps don’t drop in every episode but play important roles in the lives of our favorite characters. The show has so many cozy feelings and perspectives, and I just love the whole “look” of the production. Plus, the cast is so good and they make everyone seem so interesting; given the cute little tenth anniversary video they posted up on social media, it seems the cast enjoys the work and characters too.
Impossible to think we’ve been visiting Grantchester for ten years, but here we are. As long as the invitation keeps coming, I’ll continue to visit.

Content: this TV-14 show is basically the same as any prior season. We see a body (and a gun nearby) lying dead on the ground. A couple is found making out (some disheveled clothing) and (if it bothers you) another character dates someone of the same sex.
