‘LOVE ON THE AIR’: A CHARMING HALLMARK COMEDY
A film from ten years ago, Love on the Air has a familiar face in the lead role and is dang cute to boot.

Ratings aren’t impressing, which means bosses make some changes, which includes pairing new people. One of these is matching Sonia (Alison Sweeney) and Nick (Jonathan Scarfe) as co-hosts of a talk show where they discuss relationships in a battle of the sexes kind of format. This takes place after the pair accidentally have an argument which is live on air.
The thing is that these unexpected colleagues are polar opposites which makes them kind of detest each other but their sparks, well, they spark impressive ratings.

Like many of the older Hallmark films that I watch to add to the review archives, I’m 99% sure I saw this title years earlier. It’s from 2015 and is one of Alison Sweeney’s first titles with the network.
The film is fun and because it’s an older title, it also isn’t afraid to play with the loathe-to-love trope. Even if it does get a little “harsh” in its play with wit, it’s also weirdly fun. I love the banter between Sonia and Nick. It “spices” up their relationship and is in my viewpoint, super fun. Today this trope is used (typically) as being “soft” and doesn’t seem to want to be (potentially) mean.
This one is, like almost anything, a cute film (the dog door scene made me smile). It’s entertaining and fun and there are plenty of things to cheer on because, like anything on this network, we want the characters to find their happy ending. Naturally they do find that moment, and it’s perfectly cute.
