‘TO BARCELONA, WITH LOVE’: FRIENDSHIP AND TRAVEL INSPIRES ROMANCE
Part one of a two-part film duo, To Barcelona, With Love is an interesting story…
To Barcelona, With Love (2025) TV Film Review
Rewriting a best-selling novel is the task of Erica (Alison Sweeney), a translator who is good at her job. Living in Barcelona, the American is happy in life. She has a good life, enjoys her work, and maybe even has a little crush. Living in this place puts her in a unique position to translate novel set in the place she now calls home. But what she doesn’t expect is the owner of a Barcelona bookshop to invite the author of her translated book, which is now his favorite novel.
This brings Anna (Ashley Williams) to the city and causes all kinds of complications that Erica isn’t prepared for.

Penned by Julie Sherman Wolfe, a familiar TV film writer (including the wildly popular 2024 title Holiday Touchdown: A Chief’s Love Story), this film is different but the same from the norm. It’s more of a mature story because it’s not about college kids, but this means that the characters (hopefully) know what they want.
What I like best about films that travel are the locations. I’m not sure where To Barcelona, With Love filmed (trivia does say Barcelona) but however or wherever this was made (movie magic or literal), the settings are pretty. There are building themes of friendship, too and the unexpected complications that arrive with this.
Not a title I now consider a favorite, this one will delight many with its casting of two favorite actresses. As a added bonus, its charming setting is a character all its own.
