WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT ‘THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY’ FINALE
One of the summer’s favorites is about to come to an end. 2025 will mark the series finale of the Prime Video summer romance show that is The Summer I Turned Pretty. Inspired by the novel trilogy by Jenny Han, it makes perfect sense to end the show on its third season and to end the story where, hopefully, there will be a concise ending. Celebrating its upcoming season drop (in a month or so), let’s have some fun and look at the things we know in a The Summer I Turned Pretty everything we know roundup.
LIST | ‘THE GILDED AGE,’ SEASON TWO: A GORGEOUS DRAMA WITH WONDERFUL CHARACTERS
WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT ‘THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY’ FINALE. Looking at the things we know about #TheSummerITurnedPretty final season… all set to a #TaylorSwift summer-y soundtrack! #JellyFish #Conrad #Belly #Belrad #JennyHan Share on XThe show, according to its first season press info, is all about “a love triangle between one girl and two brothers, the ever-evolving relationship between mothers and their children, and the enduring power of strong female friendship.” The story is pitched as being one about the character coming of age and the realities of “firsts” like a love story and heartbreak. It all culminates in what the presser describes as “the magic of that one perfect summer.” The show is about Lola Tung’s Isabel aka Belly and the boys confusing her, Conrad and Jeremiah (Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno).
This is the basic principle of the show. There are lots of ups and downs between the first and the second seasons (which I finally did binge watch this past month). As the final season set again against a Taylor Swift soundtrack, and likely using We’ll Always Have Summer (the third novel) as its inspiration, is about to end, let’s see all the things we know about this popular show.
THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY EVERYTHING WE KNOW ROUNDUP
BELLY and JEREMIAH soulmates
Based off the teaser trailer, it would seem that Belly and Jeremiah are blissfully happy and as the presser quips, he is the “soulmate” Belly loves. The teaser trailer seems to affirm this as Taylor Swift’s Daylight plays showing off their blissful and charming moments together. But…

CONRAD returns
Songs switch from happy, and that summer daylight sunshine, to Belly opening the door in that same trailer to find Conrad while Swift’s ‘Red’ song plays over the ex-couple’s reunion. So, now the drama seems to up things, and make everyone question, is Jeremiah Belly’s soulmate?
THE EPISODE COUNT
According to the press releases, the third season will boast 11 episodes. This will be the longest season, which is probably because it will be its final year, and the show wants a little more time to wrap up this story.
THE NOVEL
One will assume that anything we would need to share in a what we know about The Summer I Turned Pretty would be found in its novel. I haven’t (yet) read the final novel, only books one and two, but do plan to before this season drop, but from an EW quote, back in March, Han said that fans better not assume they know everything. I’m expecting the season to follow well because book two was pretty good as an adaptation, but maybe this season will break that? Anyway, Han says, in part “There are going to be surprises. There are the things that they [readers] know and then there are things they think they know, and then there’s going to be, hopefully, things that surprise them.”

The article also says that “Tung believes that those changes only help to make the TV show more satisfying for fans, regardless of which side of the love triangle you root for.”
What do you think? Is there ever really a satisfying end to a love triangle (or one where both guys are nice). For me, based on the show, I’m not the greatest fan of Conrad, so there is that, but I also feel like it’s him Belly really wants. So… where does that leave anyone? The only way it’s good is if a relationship dissolves amicably, time passes and then perhaps we see the tease of that first (or old) love blossoming. Anything else feels weird and unsatisfactory… which is perhaps compounded by the fact that these two are brothers.
THE SHOWRUNNER and CAST
Author Jenny Han remains a showrunner, which is lovely since the material is hers. The title of showrunner is shared with Sarah Kucserka. The three main stars will return including Lola Tung, Christopher Briney and Gavin Casalegno. Photos also tell us that Rain Spencer and Sean Kaufman as Taylor and Steven will also be back. Jackie Chung as Laurel (aka mom) returns too, and in what seems like a lovely scene, it appears she and Belly may share a nice moment, which will be nice after the ups and downs they share.

THE STORY
From Prime Video’s season three page, this third season will, in summarization will take place at “It’s the end of her junior year of college, and Belly’s looking forward to another summer in Cousins with her soulmate, Jeremiah. Her future seems set, until some core-shaking events bring her first love Conrad back into her life. Now on the brink of adulthood, Belly finds herself at a crossroads and must decide which brother has her heart. Summer will never be the same…”
TAYLOR and STEVEN
Do we think they are still going strong? They are in an image together so presumably, yes. But the question is, do they last? I do confess, in some ways I’m actually more interested or invested in their love story with exception to Taylor picking guys (though I 100% don’t blame her for moving on in the absence of Steven admitting he loves her) who aren’t good or right for her.
THE TRAILER
Though it has been in the world for a while now (I mean, when it comes to a show like this, hours in the world feels, well, old by now), I’d be remiss if I didn’t share this trailer (which dropped yesterday) in our The Summer I Turned Pretty season three roundup.
Take a look at the drama and like most of us, wonder, who has her heart?
