It’s Friday (!!) and we’re dropping in with the weekly news roundup of recent stories that fall into the “pop culture” category. This week is quite quiet (which is appropriate given today is a holiday) which is nice after last week’s overly long collection of stories. Prime Video dropped a trailer for their The Terminal List spin-off which is officially titled The Terminal List: Dark Wolf. The series, which stars Chris Pratt in the original, will feature Taylor Kitsch, Tom Hopper, Luke Hemsworth, and yes, Chris Pratt, too. The Prime Video press logline reads that this show is “a prequel series with an origin story that follows “Ben Edwards” (Taylor Kitsch) throughout his journey from the Navy SEALs to the clandestine side of CIA Special Operations. The series is an espionage thriller that explores the darker side of warfare and the human cost that comes with it.” Watch the teaser below.

Netflix axed two shows, Pulse (a medial drama) and The Residence (a cozy murder mystery series) this past week. Reports also say that No Good Deed isn’t getting at season two. Pulse featured Willow Fitzgerald; The Residence had Uzo Aduba, Randall Park, and Ken Marino; and No Good Deed had Linda Cardellini, Denis Leary, Luke Wilson, and Lisa Kudrow.

In more Netflix news, the streamer dropped a trailer for the upcoming dramedy My Oxford Year. The drama, based on the novel by Julia Whalen, the novel, according to its Goodreads page, follows “American Ella Durran has had the same plan for her life since she was thirteen: Study at Oxford. At 24, she’s finally made it to England on a Rhodes Scholarship when she’s offered an unbelievable position in a rising political star’s presidential campaign. [Then] a smart-mouthed local who is too quick with his tongue and his car ruins her shirt and her first day.”
The description further moves on to say that this “set amidst the breathtaking beauty of Oxford, this sparkling debut novel tells the unforgettable story about a determined young woman […] the handsome man who introduces her to an incredible love that will irrevocably alter her future—perfect for fans of JoJo Moyes and Nicholas Sparks.” So yeah, this one is also supposed to be sad!
