JONATHAN BENNETT MOVIES AND WHERE TO WATCH THEM!

Now a well-known and mainstay star of the Hallmark network, Jonathan Bennett may be one of the favorite TV stars of the romcom movie, but before that, he had a star turning role or two. With his upcoming Hallmark (Channel) debut, we thought it may be fun to look at the titles that fall into the Jonathan Bennett movies list and to share why you might remember them.

Though the primary focus will look at Bennett playing leading man (which is rare since he appears in more ensembles) in Hallmark titles, we’ll also look at a few titles you may know him from. From his early days appearing on an episode or two of popular teen dramedies (think Smallville or Veronica Mars) to a star turning breakout role, he’s played a variety of different roles before he made a debut as a supporting character in the 2010 TV film Elevator Girl. In 2018, he appears as a Hallmark leading man co-starring with Alexa PenaVega. So, all this to say, let’s just see what he features in and have some fun while doing so.

JONATHAN BENNETT HALLMARK MOVIES

CHRISTMAS MADE to ORDER, 2018

Bennett would appear in one or two other Hallmark titles between 2010 and this title, but none list or credit him as the lead. This is the first time he appears as leading man next to Alexa PenaVega’s leading lady.

The plot has him as a businessman who hires a wannabe upstart business owner to be his family’s “connoisseur” for his family’s party.

WEDDING of a LIFETIME, 2022

This has the actor playing half of a couple who end their relationship and then rekindle when they are somehow entered into a competition where the prize is an all-expense paid wedding. Brooke D’Orsay is his costar here.

This is not one I ever saw, but can we just acknowledge that the movie does indeed sound 100 kinds of cute!?

THE GROOMSMEN, trilogy

A trio of films, The Groomsman has Bennett as one of three best friends trying to find love and the answers to some of the big life questions, we all have. I didn’t see any of these outside of one, but they are technically Hallmark+ originals that are just now making their linear network debut on Hallmark.

The series, is the current starring role in the Jonathan Bennett Hallmark movies list, according to a prior Hallmark press release (back in July) in part says “The Groomsmen trilogy takes viewers on the journey of a lifetime as three best friends come together to celebrate their wedding days in breathtaking destinations […]. As they navigate complex relationships with friends, love interests and family members […]. Pete (Britt), a kind-hearted pediatrician with a penchant for planning; Danny (Bennett), a baseball coach with a heart of gold; and Jackson (Hynes), a stylish and charming social media agent, lean on each other and draw strength from the bonds they share from the special brotherhood built over the years.”

JONATHAN BENNETT MOVIES aka non-Hallmark roles

MEAN GIRLS, 2004

For most of us probably the first role we really remember Bennett from is Aaron Samuels, the cute boy who Cady Herron (aka Lindsay Lohan) develops quite a crush on. I think it’s also safe to say that this is really his first star-turning role that in many ways, turned him into the familiar name everyone recognizes.

CHEAPER by the DOZEN, 2005

Appearing next to Steve Martin, next he played Bud McNulty, the son-in-law of Martin’s Tom Baker and husband to Piper Perabo’s Nora. The film is all kinds of fun and even though he doesn’t play a big role, he is funny as the newcomer of the Baker family.

LOVEWRECKED, 2005

This lower budget film has Bennett playing best friend to Amanda Bynes as the pair spend the summer working at a resort and him trying to hide the fact that he has feelings for Jenny (aka his best friend); you see, he really loves her only he has to watch her fall in love with someone else. The film is silly but cute too and it has some stunning scenery.

CHRISTMAS CRUSH, 2012

Also known as Holiday High School Reunion, this title has a pretty familiar cast which includes Rachel Boston co-starring with Bennett as people attending their (obviously) high school reunion and Boston’s Georgia trying to win back the “one who got away.” Marilu Henner also stars.

A DOGWALKER’S CHRISTMAS, 2015

This one is about a college student who ends up caring for a dog during Christmas and maybe falling for a cute guy (aka Bennett’s Dean) who is protesting her boss’s current land deal! Likely one of those easy “background” Christmas movies, this one has a 5.1 user rating so it seems some enjoy it and others not so much.

ROMANTICALLY SPEAKING, 2015

This follows a woman who becomes a radio host for a romance show only to find love herself! Presumably Bennett plays the possible romantic match to co-star Heather Morris’ Ariel. The film sounds cute but is one of those I cannot remember if I ever saw or not. I’ve seen so many TV rom-coms that keeping them all straight or finding ones that truly stand out, well, that can be a challenge.

At present, this film is not readily available to stream.

A COUNTRY ROMANCE, 2021

I have no idea where this made its broadcast debut or perhaps it didn’t but it’s one of those TV films that is about a woman who finds a connection with a “handsome local” after she makes her way home to help with a family vineyard. Of course that local is Bennett’s Gabe!
