Curious Caterer: Grilling Season (2023) TV Film Review
Her latest gig takes catering business owner Goldy Berry (Nikki DeLoach) to the home of her ex-husband’s girlfriend. About to celebrate her birthday, Susie is pleased with the party and as the final guests arrive, Goldy leaves her just as a private detective arrives to discuss business. Later that same night, Goldy has a visit from Detective Tom Schultz (Andrew Walker), the newcomer in town who is a little bit of a soft spot for Goldy. As the pair talk, Tom learns that Susie has died.
This new case turns out to be murder, and like the first case he worked in his new precinct, Tom finds Goldy becomes quite involved, especially when her ex, Richard, becomes a suspect!
TV SERIES REVIEW | ‘KAREN PIRIE,’ SERIES TWO: SHE INVESTIGATES A NEW COLD CASE
‘CURIOUS CATERER: GRILLING SEASON’ IS A GOOD SECOND MOVIE 🍴Review of the #NikkiDeLoach and #AndrewWalker movie from 2023. #Hallmark #CuriousCaterer Share on XGiven the fact that this film is now two years old, adding it to the archives is perhaps unnecessary, but since I did rewatch it and still thoroughly enjoyed it, I decided to add it anyway. This series (of films) is one of those likable cozy mystery stories that isn’t difficult to solve but is nonetheless a good time. When something can entertain without unnecessary baggage and leans into what it’s good at, well, that I love. Outside of its two leads, playing the supporting group of characters are actors who perhaps appear less than the recognizable stars, but they still offer fun interactions, and everyone is likable.
For anyone who enjoys any of the mysteries on this network, this is another one easy to recommend. It does use the same setup and script ideas as ‘Dying for Chocolate’ but this shouldn’t make us any less interested. Andrew and Nikki have appeared in many other films (outside of these) together and I think this shows. They have a natural banter and no matter how many times they pair up, they still make us curious. That is reason enough to watch this if you like cozy mystery movies.

Content: if you have seen any other of the mysteries from Hallmark, the content is pretty much the same. The film is TV-PG because it involves a murder and the camera does show someone being strangled.
