Crossword Mysteries: A Puzzle to Die For Review
Hallmark likes to re-pair favorite actor duos, based on popular demand. Their latest effort that does this also happens to be the launch of, what we assume, is a new mystery series from Hallmark’s sister network.
Crossword Mysteries: A Puzzle to Die For (2019) Hallmark Movies and Mysteries Review
Figuring out answers to puzzles is one of Tess Harper’s favorite pastimes. As the editor of a popular crossword, it’s also what Tess (Lacey Chabert) has made a career of. When a heist and suspicious murder begins to tie into a series of submitted puzzles Tess’ paper published, she begins to look for the clues to the next heist.
Working the case is Detective Logan O’Connor (Brennan Elliott). Despite her suspicions, Detective O’Connor doesn’t buy into Tess’ theories. Then one of Tess’ co-workers is murdered, which puts them together again, and begins to give weight to the possibility that the puzzles hold the answers.
Together, these two Hallmark favorite actors first appeared in Hallmark’s All of My Heart. Viewers loved them so much that it became a three-film franchise. Now, they re-pair again as a duo who gathers all the clues to solve a curious mystery. Their connection in this is better than it is in their romantic-comedy. Or I think so; I believe in their connection here, and the set up is full of more interest. Plus, I also like these actors in these specific roles.
TV REVIEW | Agatha Raisin, Series One: An Entertaining Sleuth Comedy
Love to puzzle through a good whodunit?! #Hallmark's 'Crossword Mysteries: A Puzzle to Die For' is a fun #mystery with #LaceyChabert! Share on XLacey does a good job as a puzzler, and as throwback to his Flower Shop Mysteries, Brennan steps into the role of detective. He has a good presence for this kind of role, and I really like him in this film as well. This type of role suits him, and what makes it more fun is seeing the banter between him and his father. It’s something that really adds to the script.
The mystery itself is fun or the way it’s solved is. There are plenty of crossword shenanigans for those who enjoy crosswords (like my mom does). Beyond this, ‘Puzzle to Die For’ is another fun whodunit from this network. It’ll keep the interested viewer entertained, and of course, those who like Lacey and Brennan will find a fun adventure inside this new story. Plus, for those who like the start of a good would-be romance, there’s more Crossword Mysteries coming to this network.
