The Crushing Depths by Dani Pettrey | Book Review
REVIEW | True of anything by Pettrey, this is a fast read. The short, concise chapters make this so very easy to consume, and believe me, if you like light romantic suspense, this goes fast. The plot doesn’t laser focus on any one thing as other threads play out, but the characters help to tie everything together as it’s them who keep us so invested and asking, “what’s next?”
BOOK REVIEW | ‘The Jane Austen Society’: A Nice Novel Gives Tribute
As the reader gets further into this novel, you’ll discover more about these characters, and also find teasers of possible pairings in future books. This helps to slow the novel from its moments of excitement (which I think are fewer in this novel); such moments include the quieter moments of conversation like grabbing dinner at a diner or enjoy a day on the beach, no matter the mood you’re looking for there are still plenty of slower moments.
If you read book one, The Killing Tide, then this follow up will be precisely the kind of read you’ll enjoy. There’s a sense of adventure, solid characters, and some backstory that makes us care all the more for these characters. The story also doubles as a presumptive kind-of lead in to who the third book may be about. The Crushing Depths is another good read from the pen of Dani Pettrey, a novel sure to entertain anyone who appreciates her novels.
