‘The Christmas Ring’ is another Cozy Seasonal Romance
Throwing in a touch of mystery, this 2020 Christmas drama features a sweet story that in some ways reminds me of a Hallmark Hall of Fame title; something a little bit like The Locket perhaps. In The Christmas Ring we meet online webzine quiz creator extraordinaire Kendra Adams (Nazneen Contractor). Though her job is fine (and she can create a “Which Reindeer are You?” better than anyone), Kendra is looking for stories with a human angle. When she comes across an antique ring with a beautiful inscription, against her boss’ say-so, and understanding the loss of a special thing, Kendra decides to find its owner.
This leads her to Michael Jones (David Alpay), a man looking to keep as far away from reporters as he can. When Kendra walks into his life, he’s more than a little skeptical, but her persistence and promise she’s not hear for him softens him just enough to discover that maybe there’s more to his family history than he knew.
DISCUCSSION | The 2020 Hallmark Christmas Romance: How I Rank Them (So Far)
One of the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries title, this is the first one I’ve seen that appears to have a bit of a cozy mystery. This, of course, surrounds the titular ring, and while the plot is pretty simple to work out, it’s no less fun to watch Kendra try and find out the “why” around the ring no longer being with its inheritants. From there, she finds a quaint (of course!) town that is all about good Christmas charm which is what The Christmas Ring is all about.
‘The Christmas Ring’ is another Cozy Seasonal Romance. Nazneen Contractor debuts on Hallmark in this sweet mystery. #HallmarkChristmasMovies #TheChristmasRing Share on XLike many of its 2020 class, this is another solid effort. It’s penned by Anna White, a writer who has written many of the TV movies; one of which is Christmas Wonderland which is another underrated title I really did enjoy. There’s a nice ebb and flow to the story, although it suffers because of the stereotypical problem of the “dramatic” break up. (It’s also similar to another film from a different network.)
That said, this film is fun and easy-to-watch (unlike some). I also love seeing Nazneen Contractor from the Canadian show Ransom in her Hallmark debut (she’ll also appear again in January). Like anything else you’re likely to see this year, The Christmas Ring is as charming as it can be.

Content: There’s nothing to note as bothersome in this film, again, I’d put it down as a “clean romance.”
