‘NELLY KNOWS MYSTERIES: A FATAL ENGAGEMENT’ FEATURES REPEAT CO-STARS
Yet another (as the title tells us) mystery in a long lineup of such TV productions, Nelly Knows Mysteries: A Fatal Engagement, what the title may not say is, it’s also quite silly.
Nelly Knows Mysteries: A Fatal Engagement (2024) TV Film Review
Knowing what’s going on in her community is something Nelly Parker (Pascale Hutton) knows very well. She knows this not just because she cares (and is maybe just a little nosy), but also because of her work which is an advice columnist. When one of the letters she gets leads her to a case, she is thrown into a murder.
Investigating the death of a man, the boyfriend of a girl she once babysat for, leads her to meet the newest detective. Detective Michael “Mick” Hogan (Kavan Smith) is a little baffled by Nelly’s intrusions. But soon they pair get used to each other, and investigating this mysterious case leads to a surprise or two. nelly knows mysteries a fatal engagement
TV FILM REVIEW | ‘SAVORING PARIS’: A FEEL-GOOD STORY ABOUT REDISCOVING JOY
‘NELLY KNOWS MYSTERIES: A FATAL ENGAGEMENT’ FEATURES REPEAT CO-STARS. Review of the 2024 #Hallmark mystery. #PascaleHutton and #KavanSmith reunite. #Hallmarkies #Mystery Share on XThis film is one of those titles that I suspect Hallmark fans will love. It features the reunion of co-stars from When Calls the Heart, and even the romance movie’s The Perfect Bride. Sillier than some of its peers, this isn’t really a movie I loved. Is it cute? Absolutely. But beyond that, Nelly Knows Mysterious: A Fatal Engagement is a little too silly to fully enjoy, although I understand the “why” behind this.
The script, apart from this, also isn’t great. It’s penned by a first-time screen writer and introduces us to multiple characters who are either suspects or at the very least, suspicious. There are a host of known faces playing the secondary roles outside of Kavan and Pascale. With a simple mystery and a story that remains “happy,” even with the murder angle, this isn’t one I’ll root to see more of. But it’s one I suspect fans will root on.

Content: this one deals with murder. We see a body lying prone on the floor (non-graphic, no blood) and there is a reference or two to an affair. The film is TV-PG.
