EIGHT OF THE BEST LARA JEAN & PETER ‘TO ALL THE BOYS’ MOMENTS (OTP FAVORITE!)

Every now and again I get these fangirl pangs of regret when I remember a favorite story is complete. One of these is Jenny Han’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. Naturally when things like this happens, it generally signals a time to write something additional about the fandom, and so, today we add these characters to one of our series. It’s time to features this OTP favorite: Lara Jean and Peter (because they’re pretty dang cute).

LIST | 16 ROMANCE MOVIES ABOUT FALLING IN LOVE THROUGH LETTERS

These two are still teenagers so their romance is still growing and evolving, but I do like them together. They’re cute and they get lots of sweet moments, too. The plot follows a teen girl who writes a set of five love letters to the five boys she crushes on through her high school years. Unbeknownst to her, the letters get mailed which causes all kinds of complications!

Below I’m sharing just a few of my favorite scenes between these two.

OTP FAVORITE: LARA JEAN AND PETER

Spoilers below! Listed by order of events

1: THE LETTER

Of course, everything begins with a letter; letters that, quite unexpectedly, find their way to each of Lara Jean’s crushes. One of them being Peter. After receiving her letter, Peter gives Lara Jean a rough time, but he also doesn’t want to relinquish the letter suggesting that he too has a little thing for Lara Jean. Of course, later he writes her something of his own!

2: THE PACT

Their pact to “fake date” in the letter aftermath is a pretty dang cute scene, and sets into motion the real story that unfolds between them.

3: COVEY

One of the cute little quirks I love about their relationship is that Peter calls Lara Jean “Covey,” which is her last name. It’s just always so cute!

“Break my heart, Covey.”

4: LARA JEAN GROWING UP

Though this quote (below) isn’t inspired by Peter per se (it is and isn’t), it’s indicative of Lara Jean growing up and realizing that sometimes love isn’t fireworks, but rather in the small moments.

“But Maybe Love Is Actually About The Moments When You Think No One Is Watching.”

5: MEET-CUTE

In the third and final film, as an extreme romantic-comedy fan, Lara Jean tells Peter, “I Wish We Had a Meet-Cute.” Peter, of course, tells her they do, she just doesn’t remember it (because it was when they were kids). She doesn’t believe him, but, well, we have to wait until that letter from Peter to learn more about this.

6: ROMANITC COMEDIES

It’s quite cute to see Peter try and win Lara Jean back (after, say, a fight) with a reference to one of her favorite movies! It’s unrealistic, but still… cute.

7: PETER’S LETTER

In Peter’s letter, he recounts meeting Lara Jean with the reaction, “My Heart Did a Somersault In My Chest. I Didn’t Know Hearts Could Do That.” Speaking more of their present, he further goes on to write, that “It Won’t Always Be Easy, But I Want To Do Whatever It Takes To Make This Work. Because That’s What You Do When You Love Someone.”

8: HAPPY ENDING AND A CHOICE

Between Peter’s letter, and Lara Jean’s voice over in the end, though they’re not together exactly (physically), the words apply and it’s super sweet and a nice sentiment that wraps up their love story. Additionally, I love the more realistic romantics of choice.

“But I Do Know That Love, Real Love, Is Choosing Each Other Through All Of It, Every Single Day. Beginning, Middle, and End.”

As usual, we turn the comments over to you! Which of these moments do you love best? Have you watched this darling Netflix trilogy? Did you like or dislike this “ship”? Comment all of your thoughts down below.

  1. I’m just now reading this (cleaning my email account of the last month’s worth of emails), and I think my all-time favorite moment is the whole scene surrounding Peter first approaching Lara Jean about the letter and the awkwardness that occurs. The third movie was my least favorite and the first is my favorite, but in the second movie, I loved the moment that Peter shows up at the retirement center in the snow and what he says to her.<3 Other favorite moments in the first film are when they are in the cafe together for the first time (when she is trying to avoid Josh) and when they are together in Peter's kitchen after dinner and we are able to see how he lets down his guard and is real with her. I also love how he calls her Covey, but I was disappointed when I later read the books and that wasn't as prominent with them.

    1. OHMYGOSH! How could I forget the snow scene!? Love that one. I need to go back and re-watch the first film because I don’t remember specifics about their re-meeting. There’s just TOO MANY lovely scenes to re-count and love between these two. Glad you visited, Mallori. Thank you!
