‘ROADHOUSE ROMANCE’: A CHARMING ROMANCE WE SHOULD SEE MORE OF
Fall Harvest originals are rushing towards their end, but Hallmark’s first of 2021 is Roadhouse Romance. Telling an unusual (for the network) story opener, the film is comforting and normal but still really charming.
Roadhouse Romance (2021) Hallmark TV Film Review
She returns home from her tour excited to see her mother, return to her small hometown and to see the high school sweetheart she hopes is the same. Sadly, Callie (Lauren Alania) finds only two of these things happy to see her back from her military duty. Her mother is happy she’s home safe, and Tucker’s Roadhouse, the BBQ restaurant her grandfather started is still there. But her boyfriend, whom she had no promise from, seems to have moved on. To add a final strain on her day, as she leaves Tucker’s, Callie is in a minor fender bender.
The driver, Luke (Tyler Hynes) is just passing through on his way to see his girlfriend. Trouble is, now his car won’t start and so he has no means of transportation. A place that, as it would happen, just might allow his filmmaker creative mind to find inspiration.

‘ROADHOUSE ROMANCE’: A CHARMING ROMANCE WE SHOULD SEE MORE OF #FALLHARVEST #TYLERHYNES #ROMANCE #ROMCOM #CLEANROMANCE #WHOLESOMEROMANCE #GOODMOVIES #HALLMARIES @HallmarkChannel Share on XI may be biased because I really like Hynes as an actor, but this is one of those dang cute romantic comedies that makes me really smile. Additionally, I adore the military angle even if it is minor and is certainly storytelling I’d love to see networks look at more often. When it’s done well, it’s wonderful to see. Everything about Roadhouse Romance oozes charm. Plus, the whole ride into town is pretty funny.
This marks the debut of country singer Lauren Alania in a Hallmark production, and surprisingly, she’s good. I’m not sure she’s the best to cast as a military veteran, but she’s still good. She has the right kind of sound and affect to play a Southern heroine (genuine since Alania is from the South), but as a combat vet, I’m not sure she 100% fits. This isn’t to criticize though since, as I say, this one is good. Plus, of course, they harm nothing by having Tyler Hynes’ hero, an actor whose personality always allows him to play an easy-going and easy to really like character.
Roadhouse Romance is another winning film if you like this brand of rom-com.

Content: nothing to note. Everything is the usual TV-G fare though there is a reference that a couple lives together.
