POP CULTURE NEWS EDITION TWENTY: ADELE CONTROVERSY, NEW FALL TV + MORE
We made it to a Pop Culture News Edition Twenty (how did this happen?) and with it, some more controversy. Because we all love reading about a bit of controversy, right? There’s more than just this to talk about though, so let’s see what else we can find to pop in this round up.
LIST | 10+ OF THE POPULAR & FUNNY VALENTINE’S DAY TV EPISODES
Beyond just the music award silliness, there is also a gender swap TV show in the works, and other news that I thought was either interesting or cool. Since I seem to have run out of things to say, we’ll just get to said stories.
POP CULTURE NEWS EDITION TWENTY
1: ADELE SAYS *GASP* ‘I LOVE BEING A WOMAN’
During her Brit award speech this past week, the first major award show to combine the ‘Best Male Artist’ and ‘Best Female Artist’ into one ‘Best Artist’ award, Adele made the statement that is “I love being a woman.” Preceding this she said she “understands” the reason for the combining of the award before finishing that she’s proud to be female.
POP CULTURE NEWS EDITION TWENTY: ADELE CONTROVERSY, NEW FALL TV + MORE #ADELE #POPCULTURE #FALLTV #SHUTIN Share on XThe Twitter and social media-verse lost their minds accusing her of being phobic towards certain groups. To me, this is ridiculous. Why shouldn’t Adele be able to be proud of who she is? I see nothing wrong with her statement nor in any way does it imply she is marginalizing anyone. She’s simply expressing pride in who she is, and I say this as someone who doesn’t know that much about Adele nor do I count myself as a fan.
2: INTENSE THRILLER
Acting as their first original film, Daily Wire on Youtube premiered Shut In last night. All I’ll say is, it’s good. The film features Rainey Qualley as a mother trying to protect her two children when a series of events disrupts their plans to leave for Texas. Far as I can see, the only place you can now find the film is with a Daily Wire subscription, but it’s definitely a good film if you like intense thrillers.
3: SLUETHERS REJOICE!
Not only did Hallmark just debut a new mystery this past week or so, they have two more coming. This includes The Curious Caterer which will reunite co-stars Nikki De Loach and Andrew Walker. Rumor has it, April will be the month for its debut. Also, Giada De Laurentiis will executive produce That’s Amore feature Autumn Reeser and Tyler Hynes. Deadline reports that production has begun on this one with again a rumored spring premiere.
Honestly, not sure how well the title fits as a “mystery,” but maybe this will air as a drama title of the Hallmark sister network rather than the mystery side. Either way, I like Tyler so I’ll be watching for sure!
4: TO TELL THE FUTURE
If you remember, not long ago, I gave the 90s TV show Early Edition a list shout-out and this week, news broke that CBS is eyeing a gender flipped reboot. The original features Kyle McLaughlin as a man who mysteriously receives the paper the day before publication. Now, CBS or the “eye network” as it’s dubbed, is looking to recreate this with a journalist female in the lead. I’m for sure curious, but also fear this won’t be a solid remake given all the impossible “rules” of creating today.
ONE LAST THING…
- IMDB TV has renewed Christian Kane’s Almost Paradise for a second year, a show that’s super entertaining
- Direct on the heels of its season one finale, Amazon Prime renews Reacher
- In addition to the Early Edition reboot, CBS has also picked up pilots for a TV version of the 1994 film True Lies, and a Phil McGraw produced show about a “black sheep” P.I. who reluctantly becomes the in house investigator for his mother’s law firm. There’s also a NY cop drama and one about ex-convicts joining an elite firefighter team, a show that Max Theriot is behind, creatively speaking.
- Marg Helgenberger will return to CSI for season two of ‘Vegas’ come this fall; she’ll reprise her role as Catherine Willows.
- Disney has axed its Beauty and the Beast prequel series for Disney+; the series was set to begin filming this summer.
Which of these did you see through the week? Did any catch your attention? Did you like any of the stories? Which ones made you laugh or become annoyed? Let’s chat, shall we?
Thank you for visiting! Please, do come back soon.
