ON MY PLAYLIST: MORE MUSIC I’M LOVING “ON REPEAT”

by

Music always seems to have the power to move people in different ways. Whether its an up-tempo beat that makes you want to sing (as if no one is listening!) or a ballad, there’s something about it that persuades its listener to feel. Sometimes I listen to a song “on repeat” (ok, so I do this a LOT!) and other times a song will bring me to tears (a rarity since I don’t tend to be a “crier”). Whatever your reaction to music is, I’d guess we all listen to it, and in some instances, it becomes a kind of soundtrack to our lives. Let’s talk some of this favorite music to listen to.

Like usual, my list always feels like an eclectic collection of titles, only I my intention is for this one to be more cheerful than my last (WAY back in 2020!) curated music list. However, I’m unsure it is. I think this one is still pretty moody. But you tell me… let’s get this rolling.

FAVORITE MUSIC TO LISTEN TO

1: LORD I NEED YOU (COVER), CIMORELLI

Where grace is found is where You are
And where You are, Lord, I am free

I adore this cover from sister band Cimorelli. It’s one I play on repeat MULTIPLE times in one day (some songs just feel different). When I get stuck on a song (or does it stick to me?), I go all in.

2: CRAZIER THINGS, CHELSEA CUTLER

Not sure why I like this one, but I do. It’s not a song I relate to, in the “big picture” sense, but I still like it.

3: I GET TO LOVE YOU (COVER), LINDSEY ELM

One look at you; my whole life falls in line
I prayed for you; before I called you mine
Oh I, can’t believe it’s true, sometimes

I get to love you, it’s the best thing that I’ll ever do

Love this song so very much. It was (not sure which version) playing on an influencers IG page, and I had to buy it. It’s swoony and sweet and nostalgic all at once.

4: GOD ONLY KNOWS; PIONEERS; WITHOUT YOU, FOR KING AND COUNTRY

I haven’t listened to much of For King and Country comparatively, but these three are on my playlist and I go back and “repeat” them all the time. ‘Without You’ is my most recent addition.

5: EVERYBODY TALKS TO GOD, AARON LEWIS

The lyrics here are really interesting, and truthful. This is a song that follows a story pattern about a man who is mocked for praying before his meal, and the reality that whether it’s to curse him or to love Him, we all, eventually, “talk to God.”

6: I WANNA REMEMBER, NEEDTOBREATHE FEAT. CARRIE UNDERWOOD

Haven’t listened to this one as much as some of these others, but I do like it. I’m also not *gasp* a NEEDTOBREATHE fan like everyone else is. But in fairness, I’m not sure how many of their songs I’ve heard.

7: CHALK IN THE RAIN, POINT OF GRACE

All I know is we gotta hold on to
The beautiful before it’s gone
Life is a sidewalk Mona Lisa
And it breaks your heart when you see her
Wash away
It’s all just chalk in the rain

This is a throwback from my teenage years. I used to listen to POG all the time. I’ve been re-listening again, and find that I still like several of their songs. There’s just something about the harmonies or something that I love about this song in particular.

8: BAYTOWN, RAELYNN

Been listening to Raelynn’s latest full length album and I do like it. I haven’t listened to some of the songs, but ones I’ve put on repeat are ‘She Chose Me’; ‘Made for Me to Love’; ‘Neon Cowgirl’; and even ‘Bra Off’ which is just fun and typical country.

9: MADE FOR ME TO LOVE, RAELYNN

I had to give this one a separate shout-out, too. Love this beautiful song country artist Raelynn wrote when she found out she was pregnant. It’s beautiful and so powerful (speaking of an indescribable love) even in its softness.

10: MY GOD IS STILL THE SAME, SANCTUS REAL

When did He break His promise
When did His kindness fail
Never has
Never will
My God is still the same

This song is beautiful. It’s one I heard on social media (I think) and I was so interested, I had to run out and snag the song for my playlist. I don’t love every lyric, but its title lyric gets it right: God doesn’t change, we do.

11: KISS ME, SIXPENCE NONE THE RICHER

Another I ran across through an IG Story or something and knowing I’d heard it in a movie or something, I bought it. The song is super cute and upbeat and fun, and though I didn’t know it at the time, it was also a 90s runaway hit.

12: LOVE STORY (TAYLOR’S VERSION), TAYLOR SWIFT

Back when I started prepping this post (and then did forget all about its existence), Taylor had re-released her famous single ‘Love Story,’ and so it was on repeat at the time. I still put it on repeat now and then because let’s be real, this is a classic.

13: AMAZING GRACE (MY CHAINS ARE GONE), CHRIS TOMLIN

It’s just a beautiful song that’s perfect anytime, any days of the week.
