16 OF THE SPRING ROMANCE MOVIES YOU MAY WANT TO SEE
If I had to guess, I’d say I’m pretty much the only person who enjoys seasonal film lists. It’s kind of like our seasonal TBR lists. I rarely apply my list to my own reading, but oddly, I still have fun with it. Looking back, last time I created a spring romance movies list was in 2020, so why not try to put one together again? It may be much slimmer pickings, but hey, we’ll still roll with it.
LIST | 5 OF THE BEST ELIZABETH BENNET AND MR. DARCY MOMENTS (OTP FAVORITES)
Finding movies that fit this is rough because honestly while I have seen several of these, I cannot remember specifics about whether or not they’re set during spring. Nonetheless they have a kind of spring time appeal whether it’s because of the setting or because of the messaging about starting over. Always feels like a spring lesson, right? Let’s read through these – and I want to know, how many have you seen?
PS; if you think any are missing, check out our 2020 Spring Romance Movies list, you just may find them there.
SPRING ROMANCE MOVIES
1: 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU
16 OF THE SPRING ROMANCE MOVIES YOU MAY WANT TO SEE #MOVIES #JULIASTILES #SPRING #FIRSTDAYOFSPRING #ROMANCEMOVIES #PERIODDRAMA #PERIODROMANCE #WILLESTES #HALLMARK Share on XWhen I had looked through my memory and my archives, the Internet searches I did seems to like 10 Thinks I Hate About You as a good spring movie pick. I guess because part of the movie is about a school dance and prom? Either way, this Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger comedy has become a kind of cult classic that loosely retells Shakespeare.
2: 27 DRESSES
This one probably isn’t set during the spring time, but it makes me think of that because of the wedding theme. Plus it’s just a really funny flick that makes me smile anytime I do watch it.
3: AN HOUR BEHIND
Tells the story about a woman who, after being set up on a blind date, misses the time change and quite unexpectedly, she ends up meeting a guy, but is he the one she is supposed to meet? Features Barry Watson and Emily Rose. spring romance movies
4: EDGE OF THE GARDEN
I haven’t seen this one, but have heard of it, plus it just sounds charming if you like the whole break-the-era-barrier-love-story trope.
5: FINDING YOU
I don’t think this is a spring time film, but it’s set in Ireland and something about the place just makes me think of spring. The film is based on a novel titled There You’ll Find Me and tells the story of a girl trying to see Ireland through the eyes of her brother whom she lost. It’s not as powerful a story as the novel, but it’s still good.
6: FIRST LOVE
An old film, 1939 in fact, I went through an era of watching classic films including multiple films with the once popular songbird Deanna Durbin. This title is a sweet first blush of love in a kind of Cinderella story. It’s charming and feels really nice as a spring kind of romance.
7: LIFE OR SOMETHING LIKE IT
Just think of spring with this one for two reasons. The first being its message of “waking up” and living, and the second being there are a few baseball themes. Yes I know baseball isn’t primarily a spring sport, but for some reason that’s where I put it. Probably because that it where it gets started.
8: THE MAGIC OF ORDINARY DAYS
Don’t think this one is spring exclusive, but the promo material just makes me think of spring. Plus it’s a pretty love story about a woman who gets herself into trouble and must enter a marriage of convenience to hide the embarrassment. spring romance movies
9: THE MAP OF TINY PERFECT THINGS
Based on a short story, this is an Amazon original that I only recently (and finally) watched. It follows two teens stuck in the same day time loop. The film is fun and colorful, and also just feels “spring like” with its messages of having to start again in grief.
10: NOT SINCE YOU
No idea the season this is set in, but again, the wedding just makes me think of spring. Plus, while there is some sappy moments, this film REALLY impresses me with the “I choose you” moment, and it also makes me happy. The film follows a group of friends who reunite for a mutual friend’s wedding and the many complications this stirs up. Plus, fans of TV shows like Leverage get to see Christian Kane and then Blue Bloods fans will see Will Estes.
11: PETER RABBIT 2: THE RUNAWAY
Ok, so not a romance per se, but you know, if you have kids (or if you just want to be a kid for the night), these live-action Peter Rabbit movies are fun. They have an impressive vocal line up and in this one, Peter goes… bad?
12: RETURN TO ME
16 OF THE SPRING ROMANCE MOVIES YOU MAY WANT TO SEE #MOVIES #ROMANCEMOVIES #SPRING #SPRINGMOVIES #SPRINGROMANCE #GOODMOVIES Share on XAn extremely charming and sweet story, Minnie Driver co-stars as a woman who meets someone and falls in love for the first time only to later discover a soul crushing secret that makes it impossible to stay.
12: THE SECRET GARDEN (2020)
Recently just watched this one. It’s not a romance movie but there are elements of love, and some sense of romance in the tragic figure of a man lost in the aftermath of death. Plus, this version of the classic story just comes off a bit different than most. It doesn’t have quite the same wonderment from Mary’s perspective, and instead focuses more on the characters. spring romance movies
14: SPRING PARADE
Speaking of Deanna Durbin, she stars in this 1940 film, and it’s one I didn’t know even existed. Funny for someone who has seen most of her films! I don’t know that you can see this one anywhere readily unless it’s a poor quality version on somewhere like Youtube. But the film follows Durbin’s character as a woman who has a fortune told that she’ll marry. Her co-star in other titles, Robert Cummings also co-stars.
15: TUCK EVERLASTING
I haven’t see this one, but same as goes for ’10 Things,’ the Interwebs tells me people like this film as a spring title. It does look really pretty, but honestly, isn’t it a sad story? I feel like I read a spoiler a while back and I just wasn’t OK with it. Gilmore Girls’ Alexis Bledel stars in this Disney film.
16: THE WEDDING VEIL
The first film in a trilogy from Hallmark, this one features Lacey Chabert as a woman who, along with her two best friends, purchases a veil with a unique legend attached to it.

The Magic of Ordinary Days is a long time favorite of mine. I even bought the DVD. I also absolutely adore Return to Me.
I still own most if not all of my Hallmark Hall of Fame DVDs. I have one or two for sale but the bulk I cannot part with. They’re all the nostalgic memories. :)
