A SIMPLE CHRISTMAS 2022 GIFT GUIDE WITH SOME SHOPS AND IDEAS
In the last 3-5 years, it’s become a kind of tradition to curate a simple little “gift guide.” It’s a term I use loosely since these lists are in no one inclusive of every fun or awesome shop there is. Plus, this year, I’m publishing this late which is to my website curator shame. Still, it’s just fun to create these with, hopefully, some possible options to at least give you some ideas if not an ability to shop from these places. Let’s take a look this year’s (still simple) Christmas 2022 gift guide.
LIST | A List of Fun DIY Christmas Gift Ideas
🎁A SIMPLE CHRISTMAS 2022 GIFT GUIDE WITH SOME SHOPS AND IDEAS🎁 SHARING A FEW #GIFTIDEAS. #CHRISTMASSHOPPING #CHRISTMAS #SHOPPING #GIFTS Share on XLike any list such as this, I cannot promise that repeats won’t be on the list. Nonetheless I do always strive to add some new and different things. The format should be about the same, and then we’ll work out from there. We’ll have some recent-ish book releases that catch my eye and of course, there’s plenty of Christmas fiction, too. Or if you’re more of a DIY person, in 2020, I did share a few ideas in that area.
Since this will get long let’s just see what we can find!
CHRISTMAS 2022 GIFT GUIDE
BOOKS & SEASONAL FICTION
If you have a book lover to buy for, the ideal thing may be to get a gift card to a favorite retailer. There are places like Barnes & Noble, Baker Book House and others as options. This I say from the experience of being a giftee of books. If a gift card isn’t your thing, then here’s some book ideas.
*please note, many of these titles are secular fiction which probably means adult content.
Adult Fiction | When in Rome, Sarah Adams; The Paris Connection, Lorraine Brown; The Blackout Book Club, Amy Lynn Green; Marple: Twelve New Mysteries, Multiple Authors; The Deadly Shallows, Dani Pettrey (a pretty good and entertaining suspense, but not scary); The Maid, Nita Prose (heard this one is good and also heard, it’s so-so); As Seen on TV, Meredith Schorr; Pretty Little Pieces or After She Falls, Carmen Shober; Seaside Wonder, Melissa Tagg; Turn to Me, Becky Wade; Sundown, Susan May Warren; and many other possibilities.
Seasonal. From YA lit to adult, and historical fiction, if you have someone on your list who enjoys Christmas, they might like any of the following.
So, this is Christmas by Tracy Andreen; Christmas at Whitefriars by Elizabeth Camden; While It was Snowing by Tari Faris; Just Like Magic by Sarah Hogle; Kiss the Girl by Melanie Jacobson; All I want for Christmas by Maggie Knox; The Holiday Switch by Tif Marcelo; Christmas Together by Bell Renshaw; Kiss Me in New York by Catherine Rider (a contemporary YA with rom-com elements); Sugar Plums and Scandal by Laura Rollins; You and Me by Becky Wade; Merry Ex-Mas by Courtney Walsh; and so many more! Looking for more seasonal fiction? Take a look at this year’s Christmas fiction list!
YA Fiction. A Thousand Heartbeats, Kiera Cass; A Secret Princess, Melissa de la Cruz and Margaret Stohl; Enamored, Jody Hedlund; As if On Cue, Marissa Kanter; Belittled Women, Amanda Sellet; Places We’ve Never Been, Kasie West; and SO many other options!
CUTE BOOKMARK FUN
In the same category as books, we cannot forget a fun bookmark to add into the gift! I also love magnetic bookmarks (they STAY in place!), and this 30 festive and Christmas-y set is cute. A Fine Quotation sells these watercolor Narnia bookmarks that are pretty(1), too.
FOR THE HOME
If you have someone who loves décor or just creating atmospheric or pretty spaces, consider a really nice candle. There are multiple places on Etsy that sell hand poured candles. I haven’t bought their candles, but there is a newer company I ran across called Honey and Heart Candle Co. They are Christian, which I think is neat and use organic beeswax to create candles that aren’t supposed to be toxic. If the person on your gift just moved or likes home gifts, there are some cute home gifts at places like Target with the Magnolia line(2). If they’re into going to markets for fresh produce or to stock their fridge, these cotton bags are an option. My mom loves something like this eco-bags string bag.
FOR THE TECHNOLOGY LOVING BOOK WORM (OR JUST TECH LOVER!)
Consider putting one of the popular Amazon devices under the tree this year! You can choose from the Kindle Fire (which are more like iPads and act as more of a tablet + reader in one; my mother loves hers) or the Paperwhite.
FASHION
One of my favorite more recent small business finds is Conviction Co. I love their pro-America shirts (such as this ‘USA 1776’ Sweatshirt or this simple ‘USA’ sweatshirt) and their biblical sayings. There’s a simple ‘Pray’ crewneck(4) or my favorite is this Romans 12:2 ‘Non-Conformist’ sweatshirt, or if it’s more your thing, this same message is on a tee. One of her newer additions, there is also this God Bless America tee with fun letter colors! I just love the simplicity of the designs. Etsy also has this really cute and fun flower cardigan that looks high end(5).
There’s also a TON of cute Christmas Sweatshirts on Etsy. There’s a fun Christmas tree one; and this simple, Merry & Bright, but fun, brightly colored design. If you want something more on the bookish end of things, there’s The Bookish Goods. Plus, to any of these things, you can add a fun headband.
I’ve also been into the idea of finding some vintage jewelry lately. Not sure if I’d invest in real vintage because that adds up. But if I don’t, places like Etsy do sell jewelry made to look vintage. This antiqued yellow gold ring with crystals is one I’ve seen; and from the same company, also an emerald cocktail ring(6). Another place has this moonstone style ring with a pretty scalloped style frame.
GIFT CARDS
Ok, here’s the deal. Pretty everyone but me is not into gift cards. To me, it says nothing more than, “Merry Christmas, find what you enjoy!” I appreciate the chance to go into Barnes & Noble or wherever the card may be from, and shop! I know this is unpopular though.
Amazon usually runs amazing deals for select gift cards. I’ve purchased a $100 iTunes gift card for $80. It’s just a matter of catching this since it’s usually on a time/quantity limit [and it’s always been the physical gift cards on sale vs the e-cards].
LITERARY LOVER
Those who love literary things or literature will perhaps enjoy the treasure trove of options that celebrate this on places like Etsy. A Fine Quotation sells this Anne of Green Gables mug(7); a Louisa May Alcott option to pay homage to Little Women; as well as a Pride and Prejudice version(8). They also sell watercolor prints of stories that celebrates Sherlock Holmes or Anne Of Green Gables, plus this simple watercolor Emma ornament. If you want a clean and simple calendar, there’s a sweet Jane Austen inspired calendar.
If you love Austen things, this coaster set is fun or this gorgeous ‘touch’ print. This Jane Eyre inspired t-shirt is also cute.
Finally, same as year’s prior, I have to shout-out these gorgeous Thomas Nelson, limited edition ‘season’ classics. They would be perfect to gift to those who love literary things! Their last drop were “fall editions” which include Anne of Green Gables + Sense and Sensibility, Dracula and Shakespeare in Autumn.
SPA DAY
I’ve been seeing some cute almost “gift basket” things in ads which makes me think putting our own together could be fun. Any theme will do. Using a spa day as example, you can shop at places like Dime Beauty that has skincare including exfoliating face masks. This line has everything perfume and detox face masks, all of which would help foster a kind of home spa day. Complete some of these ideas would pair well with cute slippers, loungewear, or bubble bath.
THE TAYLOR SWIFT FAN
If you have someone who’s more than just a casual Taylor Swift fan, more commonly known as a Swiftie, there’s options! You may not be able to get tickets for her 2023 shows, but you can find things like this 50pcs sticker set (good ratings)(9); A set of six album covers (unframed); an ‘All Too Well’ gold fashion necklace or this ‘Anti-Hero’ bar style fashion necklace piece. To end, we have an Eras sweatshirt(10) or her infamous Cardigan from the Folklore era. *note, none of this is “official” merchandise.
Of course, there is always a vinyl album option of her latest, Midnights.
That wraps up this Christmas 2022 gift guide; what is on your list this year? Do you have any amazing places to shop or things to add to a list? Leave all of your best ideas or thoughts below – we always love MORE ideas! What’s your favorite kind of gift to receive, and most importantly to give?
