Here’s the 411 on this post, which is, quite frankly perhaps something different than is the norm here. A few weeks ago, the pop culture show Poplitics posted a graphic of the “ten hottest male celebs.” The results of which were from going around their office and asking everyone who they would say is attractive when it comes to male celebs. Now, in full transparency, most of the office is likely the Gen Z age, and I’m, well, I’m slightly older than Gen Z. Given all of the weird trends Gen Z-ers are telling us to embrace, I’m also going out on a limb here to say, I will defy said trends because, let’s be real, I just CANNOT with most of them. But back on topic of our post here.

Well, you guys responded and now, I feel compelled to share some of those responses! I mean, I can’t just ask and then not continue the conversation, right? So, on Poplitics list there are names like Harry Styles (I mean… ew); Nicholas Cage (I do like him in National Treasure, but I cannot say he’s “hot”); John C. Reilly (just don’t see it); and Pete Davidson (words fail…). Some of the others I could maybe take, but these four? NOPE. NOPE. NOPE.
Someone sent me a response (in reply to my question box) that the list is “atrocious.” I cannot say she’s wrong. I mean, really, how is this even a legit list?
All that rambling out of the way, let’s have a look at some of the names YOU guys think would be best on one such list!
HOTTEST MALE CELEBS
1: SCOTT EASTWOOD
Oh, look! A name and face I completely forgot about! (Thanks, Carmen!) I’m here for this addition though I’m startled by how much Eastwood looks like his father, who is, yes, THE famous Eastwood. I think I’ve only seen Scott in one major motion picture and then one “B movie” that wasn’t all that good. That said, I did love him in The Longest Ride – only don’t hate me for loving adaptations from Nicholas Sparks movies!

2: CHRIS EVANS
More than one of you nominated Chris and I’m not mad about this. The dude has said some weird things that I do not agree with, but I love old school Captain America and I’ve always thought Evans was attractive. What made him most attractive was how he plays Captain America. Sadly, if they were making his stories as films today I don’t think I’d have the same feeling.
Also, as we did have two (or three?) nominations for Evans so really, adding him is all kinds of right.

3: ELVIS
Going old school which this pick from an Instagram account! Also on the list from the same account is Rock Hudson and Cary Grant. I never really did get the appeal of Grant however what I can admire is some of the roles they played. Sometimes that’s worth a LOT to me. Elvis did play in some fun, happy go lucky films though I haven’t seen many of them.
4: CHRIS HEMSWORTH
Ok, so most of us can probably agree that Chris Hemsworth making the Poplitics list IS a good thing. Or at least, Courtney and I would agree. We’re happy to see his face on the list. He’s cool and the little I have seen him of (in the pop culture news), he seems like he could be more of a down to earth guy than his normal peer.

5: TOM HIDDLESTON
Because of the character of Loki, I’ll admit, I don’t like Tom Hiddleston. Weird I know. That said, I do love old school Tom before he WAS Tom Hiddleston and that was in a role from Elizabeth Gaskell’s Return to Cranford. In that, he’s charming and good, and I’m here for this version of him. In fact in this role, he kind of reminds me of JJ Tilney from Northanger Abbey.

6: HUGH JACKMAN
Happy to see Hugh Jackman on this list (from Rachel!). I quite like him and part of this is helped by the fact that I quite like Jackman in almost everything I’ve seen him in. (The one “big” movie I don’t like with him is one we won’t get into for fear of – gasp! – controversy!) For me, this is half the battle, and as I make it a habit NOT to follow celebrities on social media, I base whether or not I like someone, not just on their attractiveness, but how they play their roles. Plus those accents, well, that never hurts.

7: THEO JAMES
James is a borderline attractive for me. I love his interaction as Four with Tris in the Divergent movies which is attractive given that I love their connection and how he treats her (for a YA, their relationship feels more stable and honest than most), however sometimes, he’s a bit too “pretty” for me too. Does that make sense? Either way, I’m glad he was submitted! I’m here for his name on the list and of course, all the accents, too!

8: HEATH LEDGER
I mean… I can go for this. More A Knight’s Tale Ledger than other of the roles I’ve seen him in. That said, I also think the character he plays in The Four Feathers is marvelous, and that makes him attractive. But honestly, I’m here for saying “ditto” to Carmen for adding Heath! And no matter what, the way he had to have feel about life is very sad.

Based (again!) on the characters I like, Levi is another I really like. He’s got this charming kind of affect that’s impossible to ignore. In this case, it’s the good kind of charm and not the bad.

10: SHANE WEST
Most famous for his role in an “iconic” teen romance, I best know this actor from a TV show. He’s not the same kind of handsome that I usually like, but I do like his character in the role I’ve seen him in. He’s a good kind of character.

1: STEPHEN AMELL
Yes, I know this is likely mostly due to loving his season one character of Oliver Queen in Arrow, but also, I just think he’s attractive too.

2: ALEX O’LOUGHLIN
Again, totally basing this on his character. I LOVE Alex as Steve McGarrett in the remake of CBS’ Hawaii Five-O. He’s a good, heroic, noble kind of character that while MANY say is only fiction (and to some extent is, yes), but also is indicative of character traits we should strive for.

I think they got it right when they voted Chris Evans as the most attractive Chris because he’s not only attractive on the outside, he’s attractive on the inside too. He actually cares about our country and gets involved unlike some actors who just act and don’t have a voice. He’s not afraid to say what’s on his mind and I respect him for that and his intelligent mind makes him all the more attractive.
I always did like Chris’ Old School portrayal of Captain America so that’s why I liked him. I also thought he was REALLY good in the film Gifted. :)
