We’re well into summer for most of us which probably means barbeques, swimming, trips and maybe even we manage some time for the headlines. Since it’s Friday we’re going to look at what pop culture stories were trending, though I do have to warn you, this one may be short. pop culture news ninety-one

I’m probably not going to have a lot of time to invest in research this week plus I don’t plan to be on social media much to find the headlines. However I still want to share the stories we do have so that there’s our usual weekly meet up of new stories. What will we find? Well, let’s do a bit of sleuthing and find out!
POP CULTURE NEWS NINETY-ONE
Not sure if we talked about this before or not. But NBC is passing on the pilot for Murder by the Book. The pilot and concept was developed by Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs who were behind NBC’s Good Girls. Retta was set to star and was also a star in the former NBC comedy. The show’s premise is about a woman who reviews murder mystery books and the production is being “shopped” to other places. Sounds like it could be fun… would you watch it?
Grant Gustin who is fresh off his role in The Flash will co-star will Lucy Hale in Freevee’s Puppy Love. The plot is about two people who after a disastrous first date, they find they must be in each other’s lives as, well, co-dog parents when their dogs mate and puppies are on the way. On the surface this could be something I’d like, but I’m not really into animal rom-coms, so I may find this one just ok.
The next movie to take a closer look at the life of Elvis Presley, perhaps more through the lens of his wife, is Priscilla. Based on the memoir by Priscilla Presley, Elvis and Me, the film will feature Jacob Eldori as Elvis in a role that will, fairly or unfairly, be compared to Austin Butler who was recognized and applauded for his role in last year’s Elvis. A24 has also released a teaser trailer for the Sofia Coppola film. One thing we can say is both film’s have popular directors telling these stories!
