‘A GUY THING’: JASON LEE PLAYS IN COMEDY ON WAY TO ALTER
A 2003 comedy, A Guy Thing is in no way a favorite, but it does have its moments and can be a fun time.
A Guy Thing (2003) Film Review
Marriage is something Paul Morse (Lee) is happily ready for. He’s marrying Karen (Selma Blair), a wonderful woman who may be a little too rigid, but still… she’s great. This is why Paul isn’t into his bachelor party or the idea of tiki dancers. Still the following morning he finds he’s got a hangover, and even worse, there’s a naked blonde in his bed! When he learns Karen is on her way over, he rushes the stranger out the door, hoping that he can keep this a secret and move on.
However, Becky (Julia Stiles) continues to appear in his life, and when he meets her in the most unexpected of places, Paul has to reexamine what it is he wants.

🤵🏻‘A GUY THING’: JASON LEE PLAYS IN COMEDY ON WAY TO ALTER🤵🏻 Review of the 2003 comedy with #JasonLee. #Movies #MovieReview #Comedy Share on XBefore his household name is Earl from the cult classic NBC show My Name Is Earl, Jason Lee plays the lead in this. A role that is again another likable character despite his bad decisions. He’s still someone who is affable, and while we don’t totally forgive him, we do like him a bit more when we learn the whole story as the film progresses.
The film does have flaws, moral and otherwise. While I don’t feel like I should have to say this because we “understand” about morals, I kind of feel like I do given the Internet being so, well, opinionated. However, if you are someone who can watch something and just have fun, A Guy Thing may be something you’ll enjoy. I’ve seen the film more than once and each time it’s something that I forget if I enjoy. This for me means that while I enjoy the film, I don’t have a strong attachment to it either. The cast is good and while she may not be considered the most memorable, I always like Julia Stiles.
Those who aren’t bothered by the thematic elements may find this a fun time. The film isn’t lengthy and moves at a brisk pace that interlays some “imagined scenarios” into its what-actually-happens scenes. It’s one of those play and turn-off-brain type of films, and while recently re-watching this, that was something I did need.

Content: this one is PG-13 largely for crude humor. There’s a joke about a man having a sexual disease. He “itches” constantly and has to try to find medicine for this which turns into another whole joke sequence. A man and woman lie naked (sheets covering them) in bed. There’s a running assumption a man cheated on someone. Minor side characters are womanizers and seemingly have little respect for being faithful (though one ends up maybe falling in love). There’s other sexual jokes, and the implication of naked photos, and some profanity, including the F-word.
