BOOKS THAT FEATURE WATER AS ONE DESIGN ELEMENT
Water can be quite an interesting element for book cover designs. It can be soft and a kind of tranquil setting or it can be fierce and sort of powerful. Today we’re looking at some of the book cover designs using water, and the various ways it does so.

🌊BOOKS THAT FEATURE WATER AS ONE DESIGN ELEMENT🌊 Talking book cover designs using water as an element. #TopTen #TopTenList #BookList #List #TTT #TopTenTuesday #Readers #Reader #Reading Share on XAt the start of putting this together, I thought it’d be far simpler than it is. I was sure I could easily find ten (or more) book covers that fit with this prompt. While I did, it was still more of a challenge than anticipated. I’m not sure if it was because I wasn’t at my best that day I was title collecting or just a mental thing were I wasn’t concentrating on the task at hand. Whatever the case, while this is a fun topic, it was more work than anticipated. Still, sometimes it’s a good thing to comb through the bookshelves.
BOOK COVER DESIGNS USING WATER
SOMEONE ELSE’S SUMMER, RACHEL BATEMAN
Never read this novel (which sounds really sad), but I did just read another of Rachel’s novels that was fun so hoping I read this one soon-ish! Goodreads
TO THE FARTHEST SHORTS, ELIZABETH CAMDEN
Pretty sure I never read this one, but I have read other novels by Camden and did enjoy most. Goodreads
A THOUSAND HEARTBEATS, KIERA CASS
While I assume this cover also uses water as a “fierce” kind of metaphor, the coloring of this is soft and pretty and feminine. Goodreads
FREEFALL, KRISTEN HEITZMANN
Haven’t read this. Had it on my shelf forever. Loved one of Kristen’s other novels. Goodreads
LOVE YOUR LIFE, SOPHIE KINSELLA
This one looks like a softer use of water, and I haven’t read any of Sophie’s books, not yet. But this one I hope is a good read. Goodreads
WALK THE EDGE, KATIE MCGARRY
I’ve never read a single novel by Katie. But her books have been on my shelf for a really long time. At least some of them. Are they worth a read? Goodreads
DON’T DATE ROSA SANTOS, NINA MORENO
A book I’ve used for many a book list, but it fits too perfectly not to include this week. Goodreads
A BRIDE FOR DONNIGAN, JANETTE OKE
One of those old school reads of mine. It’s a marriage of convenience story, and at the time, was one of my favorites. I often wonder how favorites would stack up now. Goodreads
THE KILLING TIDE, DANI PETTREY
Lots of “powerful” use of water in this, and what I also love about this is that it’s market unique. Goodreads
AUTUMN BY THE SEA, MELISSA TAGG
A very different water cover given the color palette this one sports. It’s all quite pretty though! Goodreads

Linking up with That Artsy Reader Girl August 29: Water (This can be covers with water on them, books with bodies of water in them, titles with bodies of water in them, etc.)
Beautiful examples. I haven’t read any of them but I like the looks!
Often my reaction, too, Anne. So many pretty goods even if they aren’t familiar. :)
Pretty covers. I found it hard not to repeat books that I have mentioned recently.
Have a great week!

Oh, yes. I do this too, Emily. I used to try and be more aware of that, but I think I’ve kind of given that up. ;)
The inclusion of water on the cover conveys so much about the story inside.

It sure can! :)
Watery covers are so relaxing.
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.
For sure. Sometimes that plays into the story, too. :)
These are some beautiful covers. I’ve only heard of a few of these books, so I will have to check out some of the others.
Always fun to “meet” a possible new book! :)
Walk the Edge! I loved that book.
I’ve had it on my shelf for a LONG time, Deanna. Someday I should give it a read. :)
While I haven’t read it yet, I do LOVE that cover for A Thousand Heartbeats!
I do too, Lindsey! So pretty and having read other of Kiera’s novels, I’m sure very fitting. :)
So many beautiful covers! Freefall is one that has been sitting on my bookshelf for a looong time and I still haven’t read it…sometimes I wonder if I am going to, LOL!
Same here, Cindy. I’ve had that one on my shelf for years. Though I did read another on by her a long time ago and I thought it was good. :)
Oooh! These covers are beautiful! Great list!
For sure! We love a pretty cover. :)
I like how you related to design, and you picked some great covers! I can see how this would be a lot of work but you did a really good job with it. It’s really cool to see how different the vibe is depending on the colors and how the water is depicted.
Yes! The use of water can create so many different emotions in cover design. Tranquil, fierce, emotional and on the list goes! :)
I like covers like the one for THE FARTHEST SHORE. Something about them just really appeals to me. Probably because they’re so tranquil looking.
Happy TTT!

I love a tranquil cover, too, Susan. And that one in particular is pretty. :)
Love your list! There’s some really good books showcased. 😀
Thanks! Love a good list that showcases good books. :)
Pretty list! I have A Thousand Heartbeats on my shelves, I forgot about the water element – too distracted by the pretty dress!
Totally understandable, Angela. That dress is the main element. :)
Nice take on this week’s topic, and I agree, water can be peaceful or fierce! Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
For sure! :)
Some very pretty covers here!
For sure! We love a pretty cover. :)
