RANKING THE CHRISTMAS MOVIES OF 2025: PART ONE
‘Tis the dang season where we gather together the Christmas movies we’ve seen in this year, and we have a bit of fun by ranking said titles. Instead of separating the titles by streamer or network, we’re just lumping them together in a “part one” (yes, we break these into two parts) list of Ranking Christmas Movies of 2025. There are 75+ Christmas movies to see across all the networks or streaming platforms, so putting them all on one list is impossible.
LIST | THE THIRD BEST AND SILLIEST CHRISTMAS MOVIE MOMENTS
RANKING THE CHRISTMAS MOVIES OF 2025: PART ONE. Ranking the #ChristmasMovies of 2025 – so far. Which have you seen? #ChristmasMovie #Christmas Share on XAs we move forward with this list, I’m adding my typical disclaimer (because the Internet has opinions and isn’t always kind), which is to say this is all in fun. Just because a title ranks “last” on my list doesn’t mean it wasn’t cute or that there won’t be hundreds of viewers who loved the film. This is great! All this means is, the film didn’t stand out as a new favorite, which is also, totally fine. This is part of why there are so many Christmas movies. This way we are all sure to find that one (or two!) we think really stand out.
All this to say, let’s press on with this feature and have some (this-isn’t-meant-to-be-vicious) fun!

Listing from least to most favorite
SAVING the CHRISTMAS RANCH
One of the let’s-pull-together-to-save-something plots, this one has Brianna Cohen (who also features in the next title) in the lead as a ranch owner trying to save her family business from a developer and a hefty bank loan. Jonathan Stoddard, who also appears in many films of the genre, is the co-lead.

A ROYAL CHRISTMAS MANOR
Cute and full of a lot of good cheer, this one isn’t a favorite, but for anyone who wants something cute and simple, well this one will entertain.

A ROYAL MONTANA CHRISTMAS
This Christmas movie is one of the middling titles for me. Is it adorable? Absolutely! Is it one I’m going to remember in future years and re-watch? Probably not. But again, it’s cute and fun and worth watching if you love the genre. It’s about a weary princess who wants a bit of a breather to live life and while visiting a ranch, a place where she has happy memories from, she meets a handsome cowboy.

THE GREAT CHRISTMAS SNOW-IN
What endears this one is the cast which includes Joey Lawrence (a well-known TV star from the 90s) and Amanda Fuller who is a more recent TV star from the sitcom Last Man Standing. The movie is festive and has a quieter, conversational aspect.

CHRISTMAS of GIVING
From Great American Family, what I liked best about this film is seeing Ash Tsai in the lead role. She is a newcomer to my watching of the genre and as someone who likes to see new talent in these movies, it was nice to see someone else lead this. The film is about a woman who runs a nonprofit and the challenges she faces keeping it going, and of course there is a little romance when her ex walks back into her life.

JOY to the WORLD
In his 2025 Christmas film, Chad Michael Murray features in this film that is a Christmas in Connecticut remake. It’s cute if not totally unique and has some fun moments even if the romance isn’t totally winning.

A NEWPORT CHRISTMAS
Likely looking to build on the success of Hallmark’s prior time slip romance, A Biltmore Christmas, this one is lovely and sweet but not a new favorite. It has Ginna Claire Mason who has become a new favorite for Hallmark, and while this doesn’t show off her vocal talent, the film is still a good fit for her, and I love that not every role she features in is all about her vocals. It’s nice to see the range she has in her ability to tell a story. Wes Brown co-stars.

TIDINGS for the SEASON
Tamera Mowry-Housley is the lead in this one but it’s really the son of her character, Lucy, who steals the show. While cute and festive and all the things you’d want from a Christmas movie, this one just didn’t stand out as a new favorite.

A MERRY LITTLE EX-MAS
The first Netflix offering of the season, this movie is ridiculous in many ways, but it earns some points because of its wise casting choices and because the chaos of the film does help it stand out. Is it perfect? Nope. But it will make you laugh. Alicia Silverstone plays the recent divorcee (please, refer to this choice as an uncoupling!) and Oliver Hudson the ex. The pair decide they want one last peaceful and happy family Christmas before their kids, both basically adults, go their own way and they forever separate as a family of four. Because it’s a family comedy, things naturally go off the rails from there.

THREE WISEST MEN
Reuniting three of the fan favorite leading men (who also each have a new Christmas film separate from each other), this one catches up with the Brenner brothers and is another chaotic but cute title sure to charm many.

MERRY LITTLE MYSTERY
This one doesn’t have a new plot, but it’s still fun and heartwarming and cute. Jordin Sparks features in this as a woman looking to ensure she keeps a happy secret a secret.

CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS
Minka Kelly (from Ransom Canyon) leads this one and it’s charming. Is it a new concept? No, but the setting and its seasonal status means this one is purposefully romance bubbles, and if you watch it with this all in mind, I think you can enjoy it. It’s also the best (of the two) so far Netflix has put out.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, TED COOPER!
This one is quite darling. It also rates high with users (viewers) and as most of leading lady Kimblery Sustad’s films do, it has a kind of charm that is unmatched in this genre. The film pulled some good (for 2025 because cable ratings in general aren’t doing well) ratings, too. The film follows Sustad who meets again with the titular character, played by Robert Buckley, the guy who crushed on her all through high school. It’s about Christmas and optimism and second chances, and it really is all quite sweet.

A KELLER CHRISTMAS VACATION
This film DID surprise me. Its primary story is between three siblings who have kind of been estranged for a while now (really for no other reason than just being adults and doing their own thing) only to reunite when their parents take them all on a Danube cruise. Of course, everyone has “secrets” and big things to talk about, which is part of what makes the film work and the end is really heartwarming if a little bittersweet.

CHRISTMAS ABOVE the CLOUDS
This titles in our ranking Christmas movies of 2025 also did surprise me (in a good way). I’m still not in love with it being a retelling of A Christmas Carol, but I did admire how the writer tells the story and honors its author, which is Charles Dickens. Erin Krakow plays the Scrooge well and Tyler Hynes laidback acting persona is a nice contrast to her fierce businesswoman. So yes, this one did sparkle, way more than I thought, and that’s a nice things.

CHRISTMAS on DUTY
Fans are loving Merry Christmas, Ted Cooper! and it IS charming. In fact, if you were to ask if this one (writing and production speaking) is better, well that would be fair. The answer is probably that it isn’t. Regardless, I love Janel Parrish and so I’m biased and as someone who loves seeing “new” come to familiar, this one earns BIG points with me because of its network-new leading man and first-time screenplay writer, too. The concept (two soldiers trying to ensure kids have gifts for Christmas) is also wholesome which melts hearts.

MISTLETOE MURDERS, series
Not sure if this one fits on a ranking Christmas movie list, but since it IS Christmas, I’m going to allow it for us. This series has been delightful from start to finish, and while the finale airs this weekend, I don’t see anything changing so drastically as to affect this. Having said this, I am continually impressed with this show and think it has a compelling story along with cool characters. While the mystery of who Emily Lane is taking on a slow pace (we need to know who she really is), I think there is a lot of good in this series.

Note: Adding a disclaimer though it kind of makes me sad that I feel like I have to add this because social media is, well, defensive. Same as I have said before (from prior year rankings), just because these aren’t a favorite doesn’t mean they aren’t still sweet. And I can appreciate what I did like about them while also recognizing that some, for various reasons, didn’t work for me. And this is okay. This list isn’t meant to be anything other than about having fun and asking you to share what your favorites are too!
How many of these have you seen? Which ones are you making plans to still see? What titles do you think I should still make time for? How would you organize your ranking Christmas movies of 2025 list? Comment all of your thoughts below! Let’s talk.
