Last week all the big news was about the strike ending, which to be frank, I’m so glad about. Now I don’t have to see the headlines about the celebrities who appeared on the lines. So I’m long over that and glad that’s done and dusted. Now let’s move into this new week ready to find some new stories!

POP CULTURE NEWS ONE HUNDRED and TWELVE

Hallmark has cancelled Ride, the multigenerational family drama let by Nancy Travis’ McMurray matriarch. The show received only one season and ended (according to articles) after a love triangle confusion. We reviewed the pilot, sharing our thoughts, but didn’t go back to watch more. Are you sad the show is done?

More TV show news comes from the One Chicago world specifically Chicago Fire which will lose Kara Killmer in the upcoming twelfth season. According to articles, there is no known “timetable/episode for her exit” as of right now. Killmer, who plays paramedic Sylvie Brett, is the third or fourth star in recent weeks to leave one of the franchise shows.

If you missed it, this past week the fan favorite Love Actually celebrated its twentieth anniversary! Though we haven’t yet seen it (should we?), we posted up a little movie quiz just for fun. What’s your favorite memory or story in the ensemble flick?

On Netflix, you can now stream part one of their two part sixth season of The Crown. There are headlines galore about the first part, especially as how the writers handle the death of Diana, some of which is sparking critic controversy. Outside of the first season, I haven’t seen more of this show, so I don’t have an invested opinion either way, but are you watching?

Did you watch Home Improvement with your dad? If so, it might be fun to know that there is talk of a possible revival not unlike Fuller House. Tim Allen, the show’s lead (which ran for 8 seasons in the 90s), hinted at a possible revival during a promotional interview for Disney’s The Santa Clauses. Would you watch this?

Speaking of Netflix, they made fans upset this week by cancelling Shadow and Bone, the fantasy series based on the novel by Leigh Bardugo. In the wake of this, they also shelved the potential spinoff Six of Crows.

Were any of these stories you kept up on this week? Which ones made you smile? Cringe? Annoyed? Tell me about the ones we missed! Comment all of your thoughts below. Let’s chat.
