‘EVERYTHING CHRISTMAS’: AN ADVENTURE AND FESTIVE ROADTRIP

by

Featuring faces you’ll recognize and an adventurous story, Everything Christmas is (to my surprise) cute.

Everything Christmas (2023) Hallmark TV Film Review

Christmas is a big deal for Lori Jo or LJ (Cindy Busby) as she goes by. What’s most important to her is taking a road trip to Yuletide Springs, a small town that celebrates Christmas year-round. It’s the perfect place for LJ. But more so she wants to remember and honor her grandmother by placing an ornament they made on the Yuletide Springs tree.

Along the way, LJ along with her travel mate and best friend Tori (Katherine Barrell) meet a cute guy named Zach (Corey Sevier) and a mysterious kindly man who seems to add magic to their trip.

There are always one or two movies during the Christmas season that I don’t expect anything of. Sure I assume there’ll be “cute,” but nothing that’s a memorable kind of cute, if that makes sense. Entertaining and with a sense of unexpected adventure, the film is joyful and lovely and inspiring, too.

The script digs a little deeper and some of the scenes are not only inspiring but remind us of the truly important things in life. Aside from this, what I find most unique about the movie is that while the script uses the “magic of Santa” as part of its story, it also ends in a realistic manner. This doesn’t take away from the charm but rather enhances it because it helps us to realize that we can have magic in ordinary but we also have to be brave enough to take the risks. Or make the scary choice.

Everything Christmas is fun to watch, and sure to leave any Christmas movie fan with a smile. Just as the genre should.
