A BRIGHT & PRETTY ‘CINDERELLA’ COMES TO PRIME ON SEPTEMBER 3

Instead of keeping on with our current line of content, we’re looking at some movie news today. This news is all about the 2021 Cinderella on Prime adaptation. To be honest, I haven’t looked into this one beyond seeing the promotional images and posters because, really, I do want to go into with more of an “unknown” kind of surprise expectation. I kind of like the idea of not knowing much about the production. That said, I also love the idea of a new Cinderella adaptation and taking a fresh perspective on the classic fairy tale.

The plot synopsis reads:

Cinderella is a modern movie musical with a bold take on the classic fairytale. Our ambitious heroine (Camila Cabello) has big dreams and with the help of her Fab Godmother, she perseveres to make them come true. Cinderella has an all-star cast including Idina Menzel, Minnie Driver, James Corden, Nicholas Galitzine, Billy Porter and Pierce Bronsan. – Amazon Prime

So, obviously this cast marks the feature debut of Camila Cabello and does indeed features a pretty dang impressive cast. From Broadway stars to well-known film actors. My impression is also that this is going to rely heavily on musical numbers, too. I’m the first to admit I’m not the biggest musical movie fan. However, this one is going to feature some cast updates of popular songs like ‘Somebody to Love’ or ‘Material Girl.’

While this one doesn’t make me hyped in the way the live-action Cinderella from Disney did, I’ll still watch this adaptation. (Also, side note, I just saw something the other day about 2015’s Cinderella not being well liked. Can we just say, I’m SHOCKED!) Beyond this, the director for this one is also Kay Cannon who we probably will recognize as the director of Pitch Perfect. I do love that film, so that gives me some expectation of being able to enjoy this. Time will tell.

If you’re not like me, you can check out the trailer on places like Amazon or Youtube.

That’s all I have for this little ‘movie news’ installment. The costume and maybe staging looks pretty too, so we’ll see how everything plays out. Whether or not it becomes an instant new favorite or not is one thing, but I do know I’ll enjoy it as a movie night feature. Amazon’s Cinderella has a PG rating and arrives on Prime September 3.
