BOOKS TO READ IF YOU WANT TO RELIVE PROM
As it’s prom season (or even perhaps post season now), we’re going to look at some of the books set during prom. I’m not sure how many books I’ll find that fit in this type of book list or that somehow centers on the even that is prom.
LIST | TEN HEARTWARMING ON SCREEN MOMENTS BETWEEN MOTHERS and DAUGHTERS
BOOKS TO READ IF YOU WANT TO RELIVE PROM. A short list of #books about or centering on #prom! How many have you read? #MorganMatson #KasieWest #YABooks #Reader #TopTen #TopTenList #TopTenTuesday Share on XLet’s see what we find to fit into this topic. We’ll keep the opening short this week and just get to those books, shall we?
BOOKS SET DURING PROM
PERFECTLY DATELESS, KRISTIN BILLERBECK
Haven’t read this one and I don’t own it either, but I do own some of Billerbeck’s books, so I’m breaking my I-always-own-it rule for the books I feature for this, and a few others on this list today too! Goodreads
THE REAL PROM QUEENS OF WESTFIELD HIGH, LAURIE BOYLE CROMPTON
I don’t own this novel, but since it’s by an author I have read, I’m breaking my usual rule and including it. Plus, we love the cute Princess Dairies-esque (albeit likely outdated) cover art. The plot follows the typical unpopular girl who finds she becomes part of a reality show. Goodreads
PROM & PREJUDICE, ELIZABETH EULBERG
I think this one I actually donated because I never read it, but it always did sound cute. Plus it seems like one that is actually one of the books set during prom! Goodreads
I’M SO SURE, JENNY B. JONES
It’s been 100 years since I read anything by Jenny, but I still own this series which I also thought sounded fun. This is book two, and based on what I read, prom is involved. Goodreads
THE UPSIDE OF FALLING, ALEX LIGHT
Read this one a couple of years ago, and while nothing more than “cute,” it was just the novel I needed at the time. It was just so sweet, and it is shelved as a prom book so maybe there’s a prom scene? Goodreads
PROMCHANTED, MORGAN MATSON
I also don’t own this novel, but again, it’s by an author I do own books by, so we’re going with it. Plus, it’s a new release and how cute is that cover? Goodreads
BETTER THAN THE MOVIES and BETTER THAN THE PROM, LYNN PAINTER
I thought The Do-Over was a cute read by Lynn so I picked this one up, too. Plus knowing it’s her more famous novel seems like I kind of “have” to try it, right? BTTM on Goodreads | BTTP Goodreads
IT’S NOT ME, IT’S YOU, STEPHANIE KATE STROHM
Pretty sure I did own this one at one point, but I think it’s in a donation box now. Likely I had it for too long and figured it was time to let it go, but did you read it? Goodreads
THE FILL-IN BOYFRIEND, KASIE WEST
This one is post prom, mostly, that uses the even to set up its story. Plus it’s a Kasie West novel so its fitting that I include this novel. Goodreads

What a great list! These covers are all so bright and adorable, they fit the theme perfectly. I didn’t attend prom at my own school because it wasn’t that big of a deal for me. It seems like it’s more of an important thing down south. Your list got me thinking about whether I’ve ever read any books set during prom, and I want to say no, but now that I really think about it, I’ve read Carrie, The Weight of Blood, and The 99 Boyfriends of Micah Summers.
I’ve seen people on Instagram talking about prom and how it’s this BIG deal. The night before is like girls getting ready for a wedding (matching pajamas, etc.) and there is even all this “pressure” for kids to “propose” (aka ask) to the other person for going to prom. It all seems like it’s gotten TOO big. Like have fun going to prom if you want, but at sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, it also shouldn’t resemble marriage tradition. That seems too extreme! ;)
Oh, I love this theme. So fun. :)
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday.
Fun for sure. :)
This is a fun, unique topic! It’s always fun seeing pictures on Facebook of high schoolers all spiffed up for prom. It doesn’t surprise me that there are lots of prom-themed books out there.
Happy TTT!

I’m betting there’s LOTS I missed too! I just always try to features ones (books I own, authors I’ve read, etc.) that I know a little something about. ;)
Oh! I love this list idea!! Great thinking. Although, I’m not sure how much luck I would have on this topic. My mind is drawing a blank when it comes to romance novels with Prom themes….. hmmm..
As for your list, my mind is drawn to Kasie West’s The Fill-In Boyfriend! I’ll have to look more into this one.
I hope you have a great day!!
Kasie’s books are so sweet. I’ve read several by her and they’re all just cute and fun reading. :)
Great list! I love Lynn Painter. Happy Tuesday!
I enjoyed The Do-Over by Lynn, so I’m hoping to read more by her too. :)
What a fun theme, in my country there are no proms, so I like to read about them or watch them in movies, they always seem fun and with their touch of drama
They do indeed have their touch of drama especially in the movies! ;) Though sometimes too it’s that final scene where everything gets sorted out.
I’ve heard Better Than the Movies was good. Thanks for sharing!
I hear that too, Lauren! Hoping it’s a good read. :)
Such a fun list, Rissi! I never had a prom, as it’s not really a thing in Belgium (at least it wasn’t in my school environment) but I do love reading about it :)
Sometimes even if something isn’t a thing we can do or we really get (because it’s not a thing in our culture), it can still be fun to read about. :)
I love your theme of choice this week. I went rogue as well because I’m not one to collect quotes.

Thanks, Pam! It was fun.:)
What a fun list! I’ve not read any of these, but several of them sound really good! Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
I’m glad! I hope if you read some, you find some good ones to enjoy. Thanks for visiting. :)
