WHEN BOOK WORLDS COLLIDE: CHARACTERS FROM DIFFERENT BOOKS WHO SHOULD BE FRIENDS

by

When it comes to the books I read, I’ll confess, I do forget the specifics of the books. Not because I didn’t thoroughly enjoy it, but more because I just don’t have that kind of mind that retains those details. So some of the things I may forget is if I adored a secondary character or the quirks of a main character. Whatever they may be, I do forget sometimes. However this week’s book list about mixing book worlds and characters from different books did seem like it could be fun. So here we go.

This is not likely to be something I’m good at, which means I’m going to fumble and probably pair up some characters who would be dreadful together. (Because please don’t ask me to remember specific personality traits.) But hey, this is all in fun and as long as we’re having fun, that’s what counts, right? We’re pairing up characters who could be good friends, a good team or even would be cool to see romantically linked. I’ll probably have a mix of pairs, but we’ll get started and see how things unfold.

MIXING BOOK WORLDS and CHARACTERS

ADRI from AFTER SHE FALLS and ALEX from SAFE HAVEN, as friends… to more

What would the fierce and feisty Adri be life with Alex? After She Falls on GoodreadsSafe Haven on Goodreads

AMERICAN SINGER from THE SELECTION and HOLLIS from THE BETROTHED, as friends

I mean their stories have many similarities plus they come from the pen of the same author so I feel as though these two would get on, right? The Selection on GoodreadsThe Betrothed on Goodreads

CLARA from TEXT FOR YOU and EMMA from ONE TRUE LOVES, as friends

These two share something in common no one wants to: loss. Makes me wonder if they’d be good (or no…?) together as friends and someone for the other to lean on. Text for You on GoodreadsOne True Loves on Goodreads

DARCY and MR. KNIGHTLEY, as friends

It’s not that I don’t like Charles as a friend for Darcy, but it’d be interesting to see what Darcy was like with someone who, in a different way than Elizabeth does, challenges him and pushes him. (Or maybe even a peer who tells Darcy things he sometimes needs to hear.) Who knows if Knightley would with a friend, but I like the way he inspires Emma to do better and be better. Pride and Prejudice on GoodreadsPersuasion on Goodreads

THE DASHWOOD WOMEN and THE MARCH WOMEN, as friends

What might the worlds of Elinor; Marianne; and Margaret, along with Jo; Meg; Amy; and Beth colliding look like? Would Laurie fall for the passionate Marianne? Would Amy fall into the charms of Willoughby? Might Beth form a quiet friendship with Edward? Sense & Sensibility on GoodreadsLittle Women on Goodreads

JANE from AUSTENLAND and COLIN from ONCE UPON A PRINCE, as a couple

Given Jane’s great fondness for fictional men like Mr. Darcy, what would her life look like if she were to meet a real-life prince? Austenland on GoodreadsOnce Upon a Prince on Goodreads

JIM AVERY from THROUGH WATERS DEEP and SARAH HOLLENBECK, as a couple

A military man from the 1940s and a contemporary woman who writes secret romance novels? I don’t know. Maybe it’d be fun! Through Waters Deep on GoodreadsThe Secret Life of Sarah Hollenbeck on Goodreads

NANCY DREW and STEVIE BELL from TRULY DEVIOUS, as friends

Both amateur sleuths, one from the 1930s (or 40s? 50s?), and the other more modern, what would these two solving cases together look like? Nancy Drew on GoodreadsTruly Devious on Goodreads

SAM from DEAR MR. KNIGHTLEY and CAPTAIN WENTWORTH from PERSUASION

Given that Sam writes letters and Captain Wentworth can also write a solid missive, what might a friendship between these two look like? Dear Mr. Knightley on GoodreadsPersuasion on Goodreads

    1. LOL. I feel like for me I’m just not THAT creative so it’s tough to imagine friendships or pair ups from opposite worlds. But I love the idea and I’m glad I gave it a try. :)

    1. Sometimes opposite personalities can indeed be entertaining. Who could we get to write said story and see if it would!? ;) Thanks so much for visiting, Susan.

  1. I’ve not read either Truly Devious or Nancy Drew, but I love the idea of two amateur sleuths teaming up to solve crime! Honestly for some of mine I picked character combos that I knew would probably be a nightmare together because I love the idea of all the chaos that would cause.

    1. I probably picked some of the same (nightmares!) too, Jo. I’m just not THAT creative to figure out who could be fun together. But it’s fun to try. :) Glad you visited!

    1. They just seem like they’d be really interesting together! Here’s hoping we see a book someday with multiple Austen characters. Or do we already have that? Thanks for visiting, Dedra.

    1. I’m always tempted to go a different direction but Sometimes then I decide to challenge myself. sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t. Glad I managed it this time. And I always enjoy reading the rogue posts, too. :)
