✨ POP CULTURE NEWS ONE HUNDRED and FORTY-EIGHT: THE WEEKLY ROUNDUP. Sharing the slim #PopCulture story round up. Share on X

From week to week, we never know what story will make headlines or which weeks will feature stories with interest. If my early perusal of headlines is any indication, things are slim this week. I know we say this each week, but heavens, it’s bad. Let’s see if we find more than that early impression.

In some interesting comments, director James Mangold, currently working on and promoting A Complete Unknown (which will chronicle the life of Bob Dylan), made comments about multi-verses. In part he said, “I don’t like multi-movie universe-building. I think it’s the enemy of storytelling. The death of storytelling. It’s more interesting to people the way the Legos connect than the way the story works in front of us.” I think he’s quite right about some things being the death of storytelling. I’m not sure I’ve thought about whether multi-verses specifically contribute to this, but I do know I’ll take TV shows (EVERY DAY) that tell an episodic story and move on versus CW’s storytelling brand. If TV shows are going to be that connected, they need to be 10 episodes max per season and then move on to another story the next season. Kind of like the pattern Reacher manages well.

FILM REVIEW | ‘FIND ME FALLING’ IS A QUIRKY AND SLIGHTLY DARKER NETFLIX ROMANCE

Reteaming with Netflix, Miranda Cosgrove, last seen in the streamer’s Mother of the Bride, will star in a new “romantic comedy” according to articles called The Wrong Paris. The film will feature a character about to be on a reality dating show, only to be surprised when it’s set in Texas. Janeen Damian (from Irish Wish) will direct and produce.

Neglectfully, we didn’t mention that Great American Family has renewed its original series Country Rescue for a second year. Did you watch its 5 episode first season?

If you’ve been curious about it, in a little over one month, on August 30, you’ll be able to stream The Fall Guy on Peacock. pop culture news one hundred and forty-eight

On CBS Mornings, Matthew Macfayden while reflecting on his career discussed his time on Joe Wright’s 2005 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Of his time playing Mr. Darcy, the actor said, “I felt a bit miscast, like, ‘I’m not dishy enough. But it worked out.” He goes on to say that now it’s “flattering” when people ask “‘Were you Mr. Darcy?’ It’s a good 20 years later. So I think, ‘I can’t be aging that badly.’” What do you think? Did Macfayden do the role of Darcy justice?

If you’re a fan of bundling streamers, or you just want to have fewer but also options, one may be the Hulu, Disney+ and Max bundle. You can buy the package on any one of the streamer’s websites, and with ads it will cost $16.99 (but for how long??). Without is a significant increase to $29.99.

Did you read up on any of these? Which ones did you like? Which ones annoy? Do any make you super excited? Comment all of the thoughts below.
