TEN RED, WHITE AND BLUE BOOK COVERS FOR THE FOURTH OF JULY

Colors is in the rulebook of topic subjects for this day. More specifically, favorite colors. Here’s the thing, my favorites shift. Sometimes I adore the deep, beautiful aqua shades of teal. Other days I love a good pink (even though it’s not “proper” or did Barbie kind of reinvent that rule?). Then there are days I love a good color palette that compliments, and count these as favorites like the shades of sherbert colors of oranges and pinks! However, since it is the Fourth of July week, we’re going to feature, instead of covers with our favorite colors, books covers with red, white and blue. Because I think it’s kind of tradition around here.

LIST | MEMORABLE FIRST KISSES FROM FILM AND TV

Let’s see what covers we find, and which ones fit nicely in colors if not design or theme.

TEN BOOK COVERS WITH RED, WHITE AND BLUE COLORS

STEAL OF A DEAL, GINNY AIKEN

The white backdrop and blue text makes this one a lovely fit for the list. The novel (which I never read) also is one I never read though it sounds like it may be fun with its light mystery themes. Goodreads

PERSUASION, JANE AUSTEN

I have zero idea if the text is original Jane Austen or altered, but this edition of Persuasion (and its edition peers) are fun. I love the colors (though putting the final touches on today’s post tells me that this is more orange than red, still…), and even though I don’t read them, I like buying a few classics here and there. Goodreads

THE HAWTHORNE LEGACY and THE FINAL GAMBIT, JENNIFER LYNN BARNES

Haven’t read these, but they look fun and are in the appropriate colors. Goodreads

ISABELLA’S DAUGHTER, CHARITY BISHOP

I cannot find the book cover (online or in my older files!) edition that I own of this novel (it went through revisions later on), but it’s a white background with a single red rose. Very fitting. It’s also a historical novel set during the Tudor era, something the author is passionate about. Goodreads

THE PARIS CONNECTION, LORRAINE BROWN

I always thought I’d enjoy this one, but saw Goodreads says it’s good for fans of Josie Silver’s One Day in December which I didn’t love. Goodreads

THINGS YOU SAVE IN A FIRE, KATHERINE CENTER

Blue, red and white, this one was a cinch to include. Plus, it’s my current read. Goodreads

GLORY, LORI COPELAND

These books have gotten a cover upgrade, but I own this old cover art design and its blue is ideal for this list. Goodreads

THE FIXER UPPER, LAUREN FORSYTHE

Not a royal blue, but I’m still throwing this one into the mix. Goodreads

GOOD GIRL, BAD BLOOD, HOLLY JACKSON

A young adult mystery novel that I haven’t read (are we surprised?) but do think it looks interesting. Goodreads

THE MAID and THE MYSTERY GUEST, NITA PROSE

This cozy mystery duo about a lovable heroine seems like an ideal fit for this list. Goodreads

THE UNSINKABLE GRETA JAMES, JENNIFER E. SMITH

Pretty sure I’ve included this title on several of our lists recently. We’re throwing it on here to. Because, why not? Goodreads

TOUR DE FORCE, ELIZABETH WHITE

I’ve had this one on my shelf for a LONG time. Haven’t read it though I think the cover is stunning. Goodreads

    1. Right? It is! Like I realized as I put the books into the graphic (after I’d written everything and drafted the post) that some of these are more orange than red. But at that point, well, I wasn’t going to redo anything. ;)

    1. I haven’t read Greta James (yet) so I’m sadly no help there. Like you, I don’t see people talk about it either but I AM tempted to read it because it’s about a cruise so it feels kind of summer-y. But it also feels sad too. We’ll see! I just started the first ‘Good Girl’ book by Holly, so I’m hoping it’s a good read. :)

    1. I love that cover too! There’s a whole love of Signature Classics that feature, well, classics in this style. I own two or three, all Austen I think. :)

    1. I hope you enjoy if you read that one! I don’t *think* I’ve read it but it does sound really interesting (and I’ve had it on my shelf for a long time). :)

    1. That’s kind of the impression I have about ‘Greta’ too. It may be one I’m not really “into” reading since I have to be in the right mood for a heavier read. But I do like the cover! Enjoy ‘Fire’ if you read it. I thought it was a good read. :)

    1. I don’t think I ever read these books by Ginny (but I’ve owned them for YEARS so asking me to remember is probably too much). They sure sound fun though so that’s why I’ve held onto them. :)

  1. Rissi, I love your twist on this week’s prompt! So patriotic of you. And I completely understand what you mean about shifting favorite colors, depending on my mood, the season, and the day. All of these covers are perfect examples, and as always, you chose such beautiful covers. I also really like Tour de Force’s cover.

    1. I don’t know that I’ve ever (as an adult) really had a “favorite color.” I mean sure there’s lots of colors I like, but sometimes I love shades of turquoise and other times I’m pretty simple and I like a solid blue color. Just depends, as you say, on mood or season. :) I agree with you about Tour de Force! So pretty. :)
