A FUN SUMMER PLAYLIST TO LISTEN TO + FIND ON SPOTIFY

Who doesn’t love some good music? Pretty sure most all of us do. The only thing that perhaps makes music better is a summer Spotify playlist that you can roll all those windows down and rock out to. With that subject in mind, today we’re looking at some songs that might apply.

FASHION | CUTE 4TH OF JULY FASHION IDEAS: ALL THE RED, WHITE AND BLUE!

Honestly, I feel like I’m not someone who goes with the grain in terms of curating things full of the most popular things or in this case, songs, everyone else talks about. But since this random idea came into my head and we’re at the unofficial start of summer, this just seems as good a time as any to share this. Below, you’ll see the upbeat songs (and let’s be honest, some moody tunes, too!) with links to buy the MP3 or I’ll include a link to the Spotify playlist with all the songs. All that said, let’s see what summer-y vibe songs we can find, shall we?

A SUMMER SPOTIFY PLAYLIST

1: ‘HERE COMES THE SUN,’ THE BEATLES

Don’t listen to music from this timeframe usually, but I have heard this one and randomly came across it while picking songs. With a title like this, and a generally upbeat vibe, it’s a must add.

2: ‘POCKETFUL OF SUNSHINE,’ NATASHA BEDINGFIELD

Pretty much anything that mentions “sunshine” just feels like a summer-y song.

3: ‘19 YOU + ME,’ DAN + SHAY

This one is all kinds of summer vibing about a summertime romance.

Watchin’ that blonde hair swing
to every song I’d sing
you were California beautiful
I was playin’ everything but cool
I can still hear that sound
of every wave crashin’ down
the summer of 19 me and you.

– Dan & Shay

4: ‘CRUISE,’ FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE

I mean, they always put out good tunes to jam to.

5: ‘SUMMER,’ CALVIN HARRIS

Heard this one YEARS ago, and ran across it again when doing my “research” for our playlist today. I mean… it’s another quintessential summer song.

6: ‘FEELS LIKE SUMMER,’ SAMUEL JACK

Instagram Stories love this one this time of year, and that’s how I discovered this one. Don’t personally love the verses, but the chorus is just DANG fun and precisely does, as the song suggests, feel like summer.

7: ‘INDEPENDENCE DAY,’ MARTINA MCBRIDE

Ok, I had to include this one. The verses are the most cheerful, and contrary to the title, it’s really more about personal freedom than collective. Nonetheless, it’s still a solid song. Plus, it IS in part about Independence Day and fairs, and such!

8: ‘CRUEL SUMMER,’ MEGAN & LIZ (COVER)

I mean it’s not a playlist with a kind of tragic type song or two, right? Taylor Swift’s ‘Cruel Summer’ seemed to be EVERYONE’S favorite with Lover and so it felt like I kind of had to include a version of it.

9: ‘HEADPHONES,’ BRITT NICOLE

This was one of my favorite songs YEARS ago, about finding connection in music. Still find I enjoy it even all these years later.

The sun is coming through here’s what you gotta do
… anytime you feel alone, put on your headphones

– Britt Nicole

10: ‘STILL THAT GIRL,’ BRITT NICOLE

This one is kind of a mix between lighthearted and upbeat, and more emotional. It’s actually one of my teen year songs that I would have had, at one point, on repeat.

11: “BAYTOWN,” RAELYNN

Including the entire Baytown album from Raelynn, just because. But really it’s songs like ‘Neon Cowgirl, ‘Still Smokin or ‘Rowdy that are more “fun” summer-y songs. There’s plenty of moodier stuff, too!

12: ‘AUGUST,’ TAYLOR SWIFT

I mean, is any summer playlist complete without Swift’s ‘August’ song? Off her Folklore album, this is all kinds of moody, but weirdly, it also just fits the vibe too.

13: ‘LONDON BOY,’ TAYLOR SWIFT

Don’t know why, but this just feels like a solid summertime jam.

I love my hometown as much as Motown,
I love SoCal and you know I love Springsteen,
faded blue jeans, Tennessee whiskey
but something happened, I heard him laughing
I saw the dimples first and then I heard the accent
… you know I love a London boy

– Taylor Swift

14: ‘ALL-AMERICAN GIRL,’ CARRIE UNDERWOOD

I mean, this one is just classic Carrie Underwood. Love a good throwback now and then.

15: ‘SHUT UP AND DANCE,’ WALK THE MOON

I mean, this song is just, pure and simple, fun. I heard it years ago and like some of the others, ran across it again while putting this together.

16: ‘7 SUMMERS,’ MORGAN WHALLEN

Hadn’t heard this song until I ran across it on my searching. It’s kind of a moody song, which I didn’t want to end on, but what ya’ gonna do? Chronicles a story about remembering a love from 7 summers ago.

BONUS! “TAYLOR SWIFT” (ALBUM)

Really, most all of Taylor’s debut album feels pretty summer-ish. Sure there’s break-up ballads, but it just feels summer and is all kinds of perfect if you’re looking for throwback music.

*I’ll try to update the Spotify playlist (linked above) if/when I find more songs I’m loving with summer vibes!
