MEMORABLE FIRST KISSES FROM FILM AND TV
Any one of us who loves TV shows or a good TV show relationship all know that a good first kiss is, well, memorable. As we approach World Kissing Day (who knew), we’re going to look at some of these moments in a memorable first kisses list. From fan favorite characters to underrated ones, let’s see who shows up in our memory, and yes, through research, too.

MEMORABLE FIRST KISSES FROM FILM AND TV. Sharing a list of first (or second!) #FirstKiss scenes from film and TV. Which scenes make your favorites list? #MovieList #FavoriteScenes #Movies Share on XLike anything we curate and think through and consider, I have zero doubt I’m neglecting some of the best memorable first (or last, too!) kisses from cinema. But my memory, unfortunately, isn’t that good, so we have to settle for what we do find and what our research discovers beyond this. Plus, this just leaves room for future collections of favorite moments such as this and allows me to hear from you all which such scenes you adore.
Ps: we do already have a collection of this Baker’s Dozen Kisses list from 2021.
MEMORABLE FIRST KISSES from FILM and TV
Note; there will be some spoilers below; and while we strive to research episodes, some of the episodes these kisses occur in may be wrong
BEN and BEA from ANYONE BUT YOU
Far from their first kiss, it’s really the last kiss between these two that matters and is, as a result, really their first.
Stream with Hulu; or digitally purchase on places like Prime Video
BILLY and JOANNA from BURDEN OF TRUTH
THE SCENE: Season Two, Episode 6
Like others on this list, I cannot remember if this is the first kiss between these two, but I love their romance and relationship. They reconnect when Joanna returns to her hometown, and how they reestablish the relationship as adults (even with their respective baggage, which is burdensome) is good because it’s built up before it grows into a love story. The lighting, the set up, the emotion, everything about the scene is lovely. I also love, surprisingly, that while their pasts and this romance is messy, there’s also this idea of staying and fighting for the other side.
Stream with Hulu; or digitally purchase on places like Prime Video
LT. BUD ROBERTS and ENSIGN HARRIET SIMS from JAG
THE SCENE: Season Two, Episode 5
This first kiss is all kinds of darling because it’s Bud, and if you have met this character, well, you know how fun he is. He’s also particular about rules and not crossing boundaries. Though he outranks her in their military service, Harriet gives him the green light to kiss her, and even still, he double checks on permission in what starts an adorable romance.
Stream with Prime Video
CAL MADOX and MADDIE TOWNSEND from SWEET MAGNOLIAS
THE SCENE: Season One, Episode 7
I don’t think this is this couple’s first kiss, but I love the moment when Maddie impulsively kisses Cal in this seventh episode. It’s a bold moment for her as she’s been nervous about letting people know she’s interested in her son’s baseball coach, but finally she lets go, to a degree, and kisses him. It’s just a big moment and kind of turning point for them.

The scene in season three, episode nine is also flirty and charming, too.
To say nothing of the countless other moments and scenes I love between them.
Stream with Netflix
CAROLINE and RICHARD from CAROLINE IN THE CITY
THE SCENE: Season One, Episode 1
The kiss for these two is in episode one of season one when Caroline, desperate, needs Richard to play her date in order to make an ex jealous. Of course, this kiss isn’t special in the way others between them are, but it’s spontaneous, same as season one, episode nineteen when on the set of a film as extras, Richard and Caroline try to have a first kiss with meaning after subtle albeit wonderful episodes leading in but it’s wonderfully awkward and they don’t manage to kiss.
However, they finally do as we all know and it’s cute.

ELIOT and KAT LANDY from THE WAY HOME
THE SCENE: Season One, Episode 8
Cute and sassy and coming after Eliot plays hard to get (because he’s been the one waiting for Kat, while she treats him unfairly), this kiss is a fan favorite. Beyond this, I will confess, I really do have reservations about loving this romance. Though, depending on Kat, I think I could come to love it.

MEMORABLE FIRST KISSES FROM FILM AND TV. Sharing a list of first (or second!) #FirstKiss scenes from film and TV. Which scenes make your favorites list? #MovieList #FavoriteScenes #Movies Share on XHARDISON and PARKER from LEVERAGE
THE SCENE: Season One, Episode 12
Although this kiss doesn’t mean anything in terms of leading to something immediately, it IS cute. It’s also fun that it’s Parker who leads the kiss considering her personality. It’s a kiss that adorably leaves Hardison flummoxed.
Stream with Prime Video; or digitally purchase on Prime Video
JACK ROBINSON and PHRYNE FISHER from MISS FISHER’S MURDER MYSTERIES
THE SCENE: Season One, Episode 7
These two should be a rulebook on how to write the slow burn romance. They’re simply marvelous. This kiss doesn’t (sadly) lead to anything (at least not for a long time), but it’s spontaneous and I like that Jack initiates it, even if it to protect Phryne.
Stream with Acorn TV; or digitally purchase on places like Prime Video
JAMIE and EDDIE from BLUE BLOODS
THE SCENE: Season Seven, Episode 8
This kiss, which I think is their first, comes after years of partnering together, all while Jamie falls silently in love with Eddie, never crossing the bounds of impropriety. After Eddie too falls for him, she arrives one night at his apartment. The two seem to silently agree that they cannot remain partners because they need to acknowledge their respective feelings. But they also cannot act on these feelings because they do need to be together. Before she leaves, Eddie kisses him where, for a moment they linger before she sassily pats him on the buttocks and walks out the door.
Stream with Paramount+; or digitally purchase on places like Prime Video
JAKE and MELANIE from SWEET HOME ALABAMA
Is any list like this complete without a spotlight of a kiss that takes place in the rain? Id argue no. Thought this is not their first kiss, since we do love a good rain kiss, this one IS good.
Digitally purchase on places like Prime Video
KAZ and ZOE from WHAT’S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT?
I love the awkwardness and uncertainty in this moment. Some viewers don’t care for this in film because they find awkward, well, awkward, but I think the scene has a realness (and justified nervousness) that we don’t see often in rom-coms.

Stream with Hulu; or digitally purchase on places like Prime Video
MARGARET and MR. THORNTON from NORTH & SOUTH
This miniseries from BBC is all kinds of romantic and charming and gorgeous. There’s so many romantic moments between them, even if they are “understated,” they’re still beautiful. The kiss at the train station, first Margaret taking his hand and kissing it (swoon!) and then Thornton, gently turning her face to meet his gaze, kisses her with great tenderness, leaving no doubt his affection is still there.
Stream, at publication, with BritBox; or digitally purchase on places like Prime Video
NICK PARK and HARRIET MANNERS from GEEK GIRL
THE SCENE: Episode 10
These two are so cute together. I think the books break them up though we see them together at the end of the Netflix adaptation, but not before Harriet, having taken charge of her life and owning that her awkwardness in social situations is part of who she is, plants an epic kiss on Nick, all while they’re on the runaway!

Stream with Netflix
NICK and JESS from NEW GIRL
THE SCENE: Season Two, Episode 15
I honestly cannot remember where I stopped watching New Girl. But I loved what I saw. Research tells me that the midway kiss in season two between Nick and Jess is quite well loved.
Stream with Hulu; or digitally purchase on places like Prime Video
WILLIAM and ELIZA from MISS SCARLET and the DUKE
THE SCENE: Season One, Episode 6
Honestly, this is probably the only moment between these two that floors me. I do love the letter (!!), which is owing way more to William and his choice (but more importantly, his awareness of what has to happen for him and Eliza), but as a moment they mutually share, their first kiss, at the end of season one, well, that’s really the only moment I adore.

I actually haven’t seen a lot of these which is a shame! A memorable first kiss from TV for me– Jake & Amy’s first kiss from Brooklyn Nine Nine. :) Love how it was “for work” and was totally unplanned, but the feels were there nonetheless, and it was such a great way to drive their relationship forward!
I’ve seen lots of people on Instagram or social media in general rave about Brooklyn Nine Nine but haven’t seen it! I’m thinking I need to add it to my list of shows to watch though for the next time I’m looking for something to binge. I’m the kind of viewer who LOVES to have something funny to binge watch, but I only like to watch one to three different shows at a time. My “rule” is to finish one before I add something new to the rotation. ;)
