‘CRIMETIME: FREEFALL’: ANOTHER HALLMARK MYSTERY MOVIE

Familiar to the network faces, but a new pairing, CrimeTime: Freefall is another Hallmark mystery sure to entertain mystery films.

CrimeTime: Freefall (2024) Hallmark TV Film Review

Once starring in a popular crime drama TV series, Hadley Warner (Lyndie Greenwood) moves to a smaller town after her professional life changes. Once she moves to a more rural area in Colorado, a real crime happens where Hadley quite finds herself curious to help investigate, using the research she put in during her career.

This is much to the dismay of Detective Shawn Caden (Luke Macfarlane).

One of the Hallmark films that’s another standalone (am I the only one that wants more from the series?), CrimeTime: Freefall is something that we haven’t heard sequel news for, so keep that in mind if you’re not a fan of investing in standalones. Beyond this, the film is, mostly, a good time. It’s not my favorite mystery, but I like that it’s one showing someone doing something big and scary (making change) and making a success of it all.

The cast builds the team of investigators with a unique group of people and features the usual annoyance of the professional vs amateur. I’m not sure I’ve seen Lyndie in anything prior to this, but her outrageous fashion and reliance on a (now) nonexistent assistant is funny, and helps to show the appropriate contrast between LA vs Colorado lifestyle. I’m not in love with her, as she says, “excitable” personality. I normally think is cute, but for some reason for this character it doesn’t quite fit. The murder board is fun and cute though!

If you enjoy a mystery that doesn’t promise more, then CrimeTime may be something you’ll want to help solve.

Content: nothing much to note. There is violence (non-graphic), such as a body hanging in a tree, all tangled in ropes. The film opens with someone being shot (not real). The climax is tense, which is a reason why the film is TVPG instead of the normal TVG rating.
