TEN FICTIONAL BOOKS ALL ABOUT TRAVEL

When it comes to lists about travel, there’s so many I haven’t read, so I have to curate lists like this often based on cover design. Which is what we’re doing today. Which is to say we’re looking at ten fictional books all about travel. Based on the cover art or title, the books I collected seem like ideal stories about travel. And let’s be real, sometimes we all need a little escape!

These cover designs have everything from trains, planes and other travel elements that makes them stand out and seem to scream travel.

BOOKS ALL ABOUT TRAVEL (we think)

THE CHAOS OF STANDING STILL and THE GEOGRAPHY OF LOST THINGS, JESSICA BRODY

I read ‘Geography,’ which is about a road trip if I remember, but haven’t read ‘Chaos.’ I did enjoy the one I read by Jessica, so now the question is, should I read this other titles I own be her? ‘Chaos’ on Goodreads • ‘Geography’ on Goodreads

HEARTS OVERBOARD and LOVE and OTHER GREAT EXPECTATIONS, BECKY DEAN

Hearts Overboard seems to involve sailing and this secondary Becky Dean title follows a girl who travels to England and the cute little details on the cover makes me think this would be a lovely travel adventure. ‘Hearts’ on Goodreads • ‘Love’ on Goodreads

SKID, RENE GUTTERRIDGE

With its plane on the simple purple background, this seems like a novel that involves some travel. It’s also a book I’ve owned for years, and if I remember correctly, it’s about a pilot. Goodreads

LOVE and OTHER TRAIN WRECKS, LEAH KONEN

Apart from the train tracks, this one doesn’t have travel on the cover per se, but it is about two teens who meet on a train, so it fits. Goodreads

DASHED, AMANDA QUAIN

Inspired by Sense and Sensibility, this is a contemporary update about a cruise and features a ship on the cover art, too. Goodreads

FIELD NOTES on LOVE, JENNIFER E. SMITH

A train seems to be an important part of this novel, which I think has been optioned as a film. Goodreads

THE UNSINKABLE GRETA JAMES, JENNIFER E. SMITH

An adult novel by an author who usually writes young adult, this one sounds bittersweet about a woman who loses her mother and must find herself again, but also it’s about a cruise, so travel. Goodreads

THIS TRAIN IS BEING HELD, ISMEE AMIEL WILLIAMS

There’s trains in the design and in the title, so this one feels like a must include. Goodreads

IT HAD TO BE YOU, LINDA WINDSOR

Read this one eons ago (don’t ask me to remember details) but despite the very outdated (or maybe not so much now) cover design, the cruise ship cinched this as being a title to include. Goodreads

Have you read any of these? Which ones would you consider reading? Which ones would you put on a list about travel armchair stories? Comment all of your thoughts. Let’s chat in the comment section.

    1. Fun! I hope you enjoy. I read ‘Geography’ back when it released and my memory is that it was a good read. Probably why I picked up her other novel, too. :)

    1. I’m so glad to know this, Bree! I haven’t read ‘Greta James’ but I am curious. Though I also suspect it may be too bittersweet a read. ;)

    1. I agree, it does sound interesting! I think that one has been optioned at a film, too, so if it gets made that’ll probably be what finally prompts me to read it. :)
