POP CULTURE NEWS 166: THE NO NEWS HOLIDAY WEEK!
Hello, there! Welcome back to this small corner of the web. If you’ve visited here for any length of time you know that Friday means we look back at what cultural, mostly those in the entertainment universe, made headlines or made us curious in the last week. This is a holiday week and Black Friday which means there’s no news. pop culture news 166
Let’s see what we find on this fine Friday, and as always, we question you as to which stories you read about!
POP CULTURE NEWS 166
We missed (neglectful pop culture writer here!) out on celebrating the seventieth birthday of the classic White Christmas. As a result, we shared a little list of our most favorite things from the film. The actual anniversary was back in October. Regardless we didn’t want 2024 to pass without having a little celebratory celebration for the film that not only is the centerpiece (basically since Holiday Inn is often forgotten) for a classic Christmas song and has more than one endearing moment as a story, too.
POP CULTURE NEWS 166: THE NO NEWS HOLIDAY WEEK!✨#VirginRiver #TheEndofUs #ColleenHoover Share on XAfter a teaser from a few weeks ago, Netflix finally released a fuller trailer for Virgin River’s upcoming sixth season. This season will center on the ‘I dos’ between Jack and Mel (or that’s often how writeups promote this next season). So if you’re a fan of these two, they may (which is perhaps a stretch give the dramatics of this show!) finally get their happy ever after. The sixth season premiere begins December 19, only on Netflix.
LIST | 10+ AGE GAP ROMANCE MOVIES YOU MAY WANT TO ADD TO YOUR WATCH LIST
Speaking of Netflix, on Monday December ninth, it will be home to the streaming debut (although it’s already available to rent or purchase digitally) of It Ends with Us. The controversial film has Blake Lively in the lead role about a woman who becomes entangled in an abusive relationship. The film is, of course, based on the Colleen Hoover novel of the same name.
If you love The Way Home, there is a change (gasp!) coming for its 2025 third season. Not only is there some new cast, but the show will also move to Hallmark+ for its debut. I suspect this may be in order for it to lean more into its adult themes, but the show will also air on Hallmark Channel later in the year. If you use Hallmark+, you’ll see the third season on January third and fall 2025 will be its Hallmark channel debut. The show, which is very popular for Hallmark is now being questioned (by editorial pieces) wondering if this will cause it to lose some of that popularity. We’ll share more about this in the next week or two! pop culture news 166
Basically, there is really nothing to talk about this past week. Perhaps because of the holiday, I’m not sure. Whatever the case, we really don’t have any stories to share.
Your turn. Tell me, which of these stories did you see in the past week? Did any make you laugh or annoy you? Which ones did we neglect? Comment your thoughts below.
