EVERYTHING WE KNOW ABOUT ‘THE WAY HOME,’ SEASON THREE: COMING IN 2025!

One of the surprise hits of Hallmark has been their generational time travel drama The Way Home. This we base on social media and articles we’ve read from sites that track ratings or poll their readers. As 2025 approaches, the third season of this family drama is set to drop but it’s not going to arrive without, well, more drama. As its debut nears, we’re looking back on season two and taking a look at everything we know about The Way Home season three.

The show, which I’m sure almost anyone interested has seen, is about three generations of Landy women which consist of Del, the matriarch and sometimes a woman her daughter, Kat finds emotionless. By contrast, Kat is obsessed with revisiting the past and finding out the secrets that is the disappearance of her brother back when they were children. All of this she does to the expense of those in her present, including her teenage daughter Alice. The second season left these women with answers to some of their questions, new mysteries teasing the viewer and a kind of weird potential love triangle (with actually a fourth person, too) that just feels, well, odd.

Season three is coming early in 2025 (so right around the corner), but its arrival would have meant change that is now reversed.

the CAST

The primary cast will be returning for this latest “trip to the pond.” This will include Andie MacDowell who plays Del; Chyler Leigh playing Kat (from Supergirl and also prior Hallmark productions like Window Wonderland); Sadie Laflamme-Snow as Alice; Jefferson Brown plays Colton in scenes that have been, so far, flashbacks of when Del’s husband was alive; and then finally Evan Williams plays Elliott, the guy who has loved Kat (unrequitedly so) for years… and is still having to give her up.

…also what revelation do we think these (below) images of an emotional Kat reveals? And might Elliot be uncovering a new secret?

ROMANCE

Ok, so while many love the romance or at least Elliot in this show, season two left me feeling annoyed by the romance angles. There is a subtle kind of love triangle set up (and this isn’t one that does it well) by the end of the second season. As someone who wants to see happiness for some characters and watch a romance that is healthy (disagreements, yes, but not so much back-and-forth), this isn’t exactly a story I’m fond of. Alluding to the romance in season three, Hallmark’s website says, in part “Kat attempts to close the door on the 1800s after making startling discoveries. She [and] Elliot (Williams) navigate a new chapter in their relationship, while he finds himself faced with his own complicated past.”

By this photo though, it looks as though the pair has at least one cozy and atmospheric romantic moment together… do you think they’ll find happy?

the STORY

According to Hallmark’s website, this new season will begin “where season two left off – with Kat (Leigh) and her brother Jacob (Spencer Macpherson), who went missing more than two decades ago at the age of eight and is now an adult, poised to walk into the Landry home to an unsuspecting Del (MacDowell).”

WELCOME NEW CHARACTERS

We’ll see new faces, but not all new characters in this third season. This time one of the years we’re traveling to is the 1970s (which Hallmark attirbutes as being “to a groovy new era when the pond transports Kat and Alice to 1974”) where we’ll see Del meet her husband, who has long ago passed away at the start of The Way Home’s first season. Playing the teenage versions of Del and Colton will be Julia Tomasone and Jordan Doww. A new face to this season of the cast will be Devin Cecchetto who is set to play Evelyn, a character Alice will befriend, but who may also be more than she seems.

WHEN and WHERE

This new season of The Way Home will begin on January 3! As previously stated, the show had plans to move from Hallmark Channel to their streaming service which is Hallmark+. Following fan disappointment (that I guess got loud!), it’s now changed back and will remain with Hallmark Channel and will debut its episodes next day on Hallmark+. This planned move did (at the time of announcement) make me wonder if the show will lean into its potential love triangle (between Kat and two people from the 1800s) in ways it might not on Hallmark Channel. It may be a way to kind of “test” the waters.

The show would have then, later (much later) aired on Hallmark Channel during the fall of 2025. Now it will air on the Hallmark Channel beginning January 3, 2025 (so right around the corner!).

You can purchase a monthly or annual subscription to Hallmark+ on its website for $7.99/month or $79.99/year. You can also purchase the Hallmark+ service with a Prime Video channel add on for $7.99/month.

Okay readers! Now that we have put together an everything we know about The Way Home season three, we now ask you, what do you hope comes with this third season of The Way Home? Will you be watching it? Do you plan to follow the show as it makes this change? How do you think the show and stories will shake out? Comment all of your thoughts below!
