‘PRIVATE PRINCESS CHRISTMAS’ IS A CHARMING MOVIE ABOUT GROWING UP
Another title in the line of Hallmark Countdown to Christmas movies, Private Princess Christmas is another in the long line of TV movies that we can tag with the “cute” adjective.
Private Princess Christmas (2024) Hallmark TV Film Review
Duties keep Violet (Ali Skovbye) busy. More so than she wants, and certainly more than any average peer she may meet. You see, Violet is a princess and as such, she has high expectations from everyone around her. When she fails in those duties, this forces change. Hoping to drill more structure and responsibility into her, she’s sent to a leadership training program.
While there the instructor, Captain Ryan Douglas (Derek Klena) is more than a little stern on this group of cadets. A former military man, Ryan is the total opposite of Violet. Disciplined, stoic and serious, he isn’t about to let Violet’s attempts to soften his approach change how he does his job.
TV FILM REVIEW | ‘THE CHRISTMAS QUEST’ IS A NEW ADVENTURE WITH LIKABLE STARS
‘PRIVATE PRINCESS CHRISTMAS’ IS A CHARMING MOVIE ABOUT GROWING UP. Ali Skovbye stars in #PrivatePrincessChristmas, a #Hallmark movie. Share on XPrivate Princess Christmas is one of those movies that I suspect viewers won’t expect much from in the way they look forward to titles like Three Wiser Men and a Boy or Holiday Touchdown. Regardless, the film is actually entertaining and good fun. It reminds me of something like Cadet Kelly or even a title like Legally Blonde. It’s about overcoming things you don’t think you can accomplish, which then pushes you into making wise choices and teaches you to be a good leader.
This film is all kind of cute. It has, like anything, some moments of depth and also gives, as best it can, its characters some background. While the script is about a royal, this one does it in a different way, and I love this. It also allows its leading man with bios that say he’s a Broadway actor, to show off some of his talent in that arena. Supporting characters are also super fun and even though it’s not traditionally royal, we still get a makeshift pretty ballroom, too. In the end, there isn’t a lot of romance (which works here) and the drama at the end is (like usual) silly, but still this film is an underrated favorite, especially among the numerous Hallmark royal romance movies.
