‘THE BAKER’S SON’: BAKING SOME MAGIC AND ROMANCE!

A Hallmark title from 2021 (that is part of their Summer Nights campaign), The Baker’s Son is one of those cute movies that makes us smile, but also something that feels like (or perhaps serves as) a repeat of other titles you’ll see in this genre pool.

The Baker’s Son (2021) Hallmark TV Film Review

Baking bread is something Matt (Brant Daugherty) does very well. But while feeling a little stuck, Matt takes advice from his bestie and ends up baking a bread that seems to have some type of magic because, well, it’s just that good. These unique artisan creations draw quite the interest in a short time. Then for some reason, the things he makes lose its magic.

Finding this unacceptable the “locals” decide that Matt needs to find his passion for his baking again. This inspires them to try and bring him back together with his best friend, Annie (Eloise Mumford), hopeful that she’ll help him reclaim that missing thing his baking needs.

This is one of those films that I saw years ago but didn’t remember specific details about. What stuck in my mind is that it wasn’t a favorite. This is still true. I think part of this is the odd kind of “magic” elements. This isn’t because I am bothered by magical things in films, but because it just feels off or odd in The Bakers Son. Especially as regards the magic. Additionally, Eloise Mumford was in another title that is very similar to this, so everything seems extra repetitive.

Regardless of this, know that this is still sweet. This is an ideal flick to be “sweet” because of the baking themes. The rest of the common tropes or themes still play up in this movie, too. The opening is also bound to make almost all of us wish we could bake! I like seeing Eloise in movies because I’ve always enjoyed her in these roles since seeing her way back when in Christmas with Holly.

Not the favorite, no, but still this one will charm many fans of the network or just be a nice watch for anyone who wants something simple and cute.

Content: nothing to note in this usual TV-G film. There is some kissing, but nothing else.
