THE WEEKLY NEWS 194

Hoping, in all likelihood, to keep the momentum going from the popularity of their series The Way Home and likely programs like the historical period piece Outlander, Hallmark is again visiting the past in what they probably wish to see succeed. This time the production is set to be a three-part historical period drama limited series adapting the Providence Falls novels. The first book, Chance of a Lifetime, will likely form the start of the series and its Goodreads page tells us it’s about “Liam O’Connor, a rogue and a thief, fell madly in love with a squire’s daughter,” and is a man who alters the future, albeit mistakenly.

The story is partially set in 1844, and travels to modern North Carolina where Liam ends up having to help the girl he loves in Ireland, fall in love with the man she was mean to marry before they met. Thing is, this modern Cora is “very different from the innocent girl who fell for Liam in the past.”

According to the tagline, the book is about Cora who “in one century she loved [Liam] madly, and in another she wants nothing to do with him.” From their Twitter page, Hallmark announces this as being an event that asks us to “get ready to be swept away for an epic romance spanning centuries.” It will star Katie Stevens, Lachlan Quarmby and Even Roderick. JoAnna Garcia and Kate Gordon will also serve as producers. It’s will debut on Hallmark Channel August 2, and will, of course, stream next day on Hallmark Plus.

Though not in costume, Netflix did post a cast photo for their upcoming Little House on the Prairie show, which its cast did tables reads for and the show is now filming. Are you getting excited?

FILM REVIEW | ‘DEEP COVER’: A FUNNY (BUT KIND OF UNUSUAL) MOVIE

Late last week, after publishing our Weekly News roundup, Prime Video opted not to renew the ballet dramedy, penned by Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, Étoile. This comes after the show did have a two season order. So, in effect, the show is unrenewed, though I didn’t see Prime nor Amazon MGM Studios issue public statement regarding this change. The concept of the show revolved around an American and Paris ballet company who swapped dancers in an effort to revive their respective companies and the world of dance.

In other Prime Video news, there was a trailer dropped for the July final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty, which we shared as a part of the roundup of what we know about the final season.

Also, coming this fall (September 24 to be precise) will be a new Prime Video binge drop featuring Jesse Williams. The show, Hotel Costiera is going to follow Williams “Daniel De Luca, a half Italian former U.S. Marine. Daniel returns to Italy, the land of his childhood, as a fixer in one of the world’s most luxurious hotels, located on the spectacular coastline of Positano. ” This is according to the press release which also reveals that there is a kidnapping that De Luca must solve, too! The show did film in Italy and goes on to describe as “a clever action-drama. ”
