THE POP CULTURE NEWS BULLETIN 201: NEW FALL TV THINGS AND A PERIOD DRAMA RENEWAL ✨ Talking about the #PopCulture things making the headlines this week. #TheGildedAge #ChristmasMovies Share on XTHE POP CULTURE NEWS BULLETIN 201
In fall TV news, Jensen Ackles will return to the third season of Tracker. Ackles plays the brother of lead Justin Hartley’s Colter Shaw. Right now, the reporting is he’ll be back for one episode, but there is the possibility of more episodes, too. Ackles right now is starring in Prime Video’s Countdown where he plays an LAPD detective who is, not unlike the title reflecting the race to stop a terrorist detective, quite literally a time bomb waiting to happen because of an illness.
The much buzzed about (and critically loved) period drama The Gilded Age has been renewed for a fourth season. So if you’re watching the third now, you can enjoy the upcoming (August 10th) finale with ease, knowing another season is coming.
According to the presser, the “Emmy®-nominated” show from creator Julian Fellowes will be back for a fourth season. Also in that same release, reporting says that the “total premiere-night viewing for the third season has grown for five consecutive weeks, culminating in a 20 percent growth compared to last season. Fan engagement has also climbed, with social chatter rising nearly 60 percent week over week.” Further on down the line, we learn that this season has been hyped as “the best yet” and in the two seasons it’s eared, the show did earn “7 total Emmy® nominations.”
Though not news, lots of networks are teasing and, in some cases, confirming their upcoming Christmas movies. Some people are also talking about network TV severely limiting (at some point) the new debuts because ratings just aren’t nearly as impressive anymore and declining numbers have been the norm. For example, Great American Family confirmed that Cindy Busby and Sam Page will pair up for a Christmas flick this year and then on Hallmark, there is rumor that a third “Three Wise Men” installment will be coming.
