LET THERE BE LIGHT! 12 OF THE CANDLELIT BOOK COVERS
The book topic on the agenda today is one that calls for a super creative mind. I know many of us have that, but I’m not one of them. So instead of giving a book its own creative candle scent, I’m taking the easy route and using book cover art as my guide. Specifically looking at book covers with candles.

LET THERE BE LIGHT! 12 OF THE CANDLELIT BOOK COVERS. Spotlighting a small collection of books with candles (or lanterns) in the #coverart! #TTT #TopTenTuesday #BookList #Books #Reading Share on XJust thinking about this, I’m sure I have book covers with candles featured prominently, but I’d guess they are mostly historical fiction titles! So, keeping this in mind, let’s see what we can find.
BOOK COVERS with CANDLES
THE INHERITANCE GAMES, JENNIFER LYNN BARNES
Why haven’t I read this one!? It sounds so interesting and there are quite a few books connected to it so there’s lots of story to enjoy. Goodreads
THE NIGHT ANGEL, T. DAVIS BUNN and ISABELLA BUNN
A lantern, yes, but nonetheless, it still seems fitting to include this one. I cannot even remember if I read this book or not (I did read others in the series), but it’s been on my shelf since its release. Goodreads
WHOSE WAVES these ARE, AMANDA DYKES
A lantern also features on this title which I did read once upon a time. I love the simplicity of the design. Goodreads

CANDLELIGHT for REBECCA, JACQUELINE DEMBAR GREENE
An American girl story, I think I had a couple of these, but Rebecca’s stories may not have been any I read because she was a new addition after I’d “grown out” of American Girl stories. I think I still bought a couple of the books though just for nostalgia. Goodreads
REBELLIOUS HEART, JODY HEDLUND
I had this one years ago, but don’t think I read it. I did read A Noble Groom and a couple others by Jody though, and I liked those. Goodreads
THE NO-SHOW, BETH O’LEARY
A contemporary novel (guessing there are few book covers with candles in this genre) by popular and well liked author Beth O’Leary, this is a title I’d like to read yet (or something by Beth) but I just haven’t. There’s a little candle on the table on this one so we’re including it. Goodreads
PLAYING with MATCHES, HANNAH ORENSTEIN
This may be an odd one (it’s another contemporary) to include but matches are candle adjacent so I’m putting it on the list even if most of these covers are more serious and fitting the historical genre. Goodreads

KIRSTEN’S SURPRISE, JANET BEELER SHAW
This Christmas novel has candles featuring on the cover with the heroine wearing the traditional wreath she would have worn during the Christmas season. Goodreads
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOLLY and SAMANTHA SAVES the DAY, VALERIE TRIPP
Candles on a birthday cake earns this one a place on the list! A lantern feature on the ‘Samantha’ book but it still has a place. These are also more American Girl novels and are definitely throwback titles for me! ‘Molly’ on Goodreads | ‘Samantha’ on Goodreads
THE KNIGHT and the DOVE + LEAVE a CANDLE BURNING, LORI WICK
I read this one years ago. It’s part of a series called Tucker Mills trilogy. This third novel in the series is like the ideal fit for this list because its title also fits well. ‘Knight’ Goodreads | ‘Candle’ on Goodreads

Fun prompt/twist. I hadn’t noticed how many covers have lit candles on them.
My TTT Tweak is here: https://headfullofbooks.blogspot.com/2025/09/ttt-matching-yankee-candle-scents-to.html
I think it’s more historical fiction probably but yeah, there are some designs with candlelight. :)
Ha, but you are creative, your twist on the topic is perfect!

This felt so “easy,” Rosie so that’s the way it went – I admire how everyone is using candles for their lists. :)
I’ve read and enjoyed The No-Show. It’s not quite like O’Leary’s other books.

Fun to know, Pam! Sometimes even authors like to stretch their creative muscles. :)
Thank you for stopping by earlier. I love seeing candles on book covers. So pretty.
Thanks for visiting here, Lydia – and candles add some atmosphere. :)
Loved this list, Rissi! 🕯️ Such cozy, magical covers — now I want to curl up with a book and a candle. Thanks for the inspo!
They do inspire that, don’t they? Definitely helps create the ideal atmosphere. :)
I’m not creative enough for this prompt either. I like your take on it, though. I’m a fan of covers with warm light, especially emanating from windows and lanterns. There’s just something cozy about them. Great list!
Happy TTT!

So true, Susan! Covers with light/candles do create lovely atmosphere and this kind of light does inspire the right cozy setting. :)
I definitely didn’t have the creativity to come up with candle scents, but I think your twist on the topic is pretty creative too!
I love seeing what everyone did come up with! They are far more clever than I am. :)
Oooh that’s such a creative take on today’s topic!
I try… but everyone has been so creative today. Love seeing their “candles inspired by books” creations. :)
The first book that came to mind for me was Whispers in the Reading Room by Shelley Gray. Great picks!
That’s a new one to me! I’ll have to look it up. :)
I am not that creative either, so I went a different direction. Your topic is a great tweak and also creative. I didn’t think to go that route either, LOL! I hope you have a great week!
As I read the lists of bloggers who DID go the candle scent route, it’s fun to see all the creativity. Makes me wish I’d tried (which is usually the case), but there’s always next time! :)
No sense in regretting the decision, it was too much stress for me, and I don’t need more stress ;) I did love the creativity that others showed, but I never would have thought of what they did, and that’s okay :)
So true! Sometimes I just like to challenge myself but if there isn’t time, I’m learning or rather TRYING to teach myself that this is ok. :)
Yes :)
😊
I am so bummed I was not the right age for the American Girl books – too old when they came out. Maybe I will read them now. They look so cute!
They are cute and fun, Erin! I enjoyed them immensely and sometimes, though rarely anymore, want to buy a new one just for nostalgia sake. :)
Like what you did hear. I’m not sure I can think of a single cover with a candle on it.
Thanks, Alicia! :)
I really like what you did with the prompt this week – somehow never noticed that about the Inheritance Games cover!
Thanks, Lauren! It was fun… and until this list, I’m not sure I did either!
Omg, this is perfect and such a great idea! I wish I had thought of it! Candles on the cover, I love it!
I thought it was a nice fit; still on topic but a bit easier. :)
I love the direction you took your post this week. The cover of Whose Waves These Are is beautiful.
That one is always so striking to me! :)
