One of the titles Hallmark considers among their best, A Grand Ole Opry Christmas revisits the past in this time-travel story.

It’s been many years since Gentry Wade (Nikki DeLoach) let herself remember the dream of songwriting. The tragedy surrounding the death of her famous father caused Gentry to long ago abandon that dream. But when she receives an invitation to visit the Opry and represent her father during a centennial Christmas event. Reluctantly she agrees at the encouragement of friends.
Once there, serendipity – or magic, transports Gentry and her good friend Mac (Kristoffer Polaha) back to 1995. Here she meets with her father (Rob Mayes) and perhaps rediscovers the inspiration this bit of magic has for her.

It’s also a film that has a fictional story, but focuses on packing in the cameos and history too. This includes everyone from Megan Moroney to Mickey Guyton; and Tigirliy Gold to Brad Paisley, who also recorded exclusive music for Hallmark’s Christmas celebrations. I understand why the script features this many cameos, but I think it sometimes feels like a few too many.
All this to say, I think A Grand Ole Opry Christmas does what it sets out to do. It heavily features some of the gorgeous sights the Nashville landmark boasts, while also telling a heartwarming story. Hallmark heavily places this as one of their “best” (again, I understand why), and surprisingly, it does win me over.
The story is nice albeit sentimental (not a favorite) but still with lots of joy amidst the bittersweet. Hallmark pros Nikki DeLoach and Kristoffer Polaha anchor the cameos, and the 1995 setting is fun but isn’t “played up” much. If you enjoy any of the movies from this 2025 lineup consider visiting a landmark in A Grand Ole Opry Christmas.
